I just purchased an Enermax EG365P-VE with Fan Monitoring today I was expecting almost complete silence, but it seems as if the noise level is almost exactly the same as my old 300 Watt Powerman PSU. Is it possible that I my case can amplify noise? I've got an InWin Q-500 which has lots of little ventilation holes and things. I know that it's the PSU that's being noisy - I have a quiet HSF, and no case fans on at the moment.
I did try hooking up only the motherboard, and the PSU was very quiet then. However, now that everything else is plugged in the fans are going like crazy, and making plenty of noise.
Any ideas for dampening the sound? I'd rather not go the Dynamat-type route, if it's at all possible.
