Kinda tired of the widescreen. I know I saw a thread on this before, but I can't find it now.

Anyone know how to do it?

Thanks

I didn't know BF2 had support for widescreen. All the res's I can select on not widescreen, and way below the capabilities of my 2005FPW. I would be interested in a reliable way of upping the res to 1680x1050, or 1280x1024.

I have widescreen and non widescreen resolutions up to 1280x960 but not 1280x1024

try putting the whole command line in quotation marks "c:\program files\...bf2.exe +menu 1 +.... +szy 1024"

Works fine for me and the 20,000 other people at the Planet Battlefield forums.

I've been quiet about this, but I've tried adding this to the shortcut but I have yet to get 1280x1024. I've been stuck with my non-native resolution and I'm kind of pissed at the game makers that such a standard resolution isn't naturally in the options. Back to playing at 1280 x 9xx on a 1280x1024 LCD...I play this game yet it pisses me off a lot. Why??

after adding it to the shortcut, you need to re-boot. it doesn't show as an option in the game control menu, it just defaults to that rez.

No need for reboots or putting all of it in quotations. (quotes end at the exe).

Its not brain surgery guys :p

I wouldn't call that standard... 1024/1280 = a ratio of .8. Almost all other resolutions (640, 800, 1024, 1280x960, 1600, and so on) have a ratio of .75.

1280x1024 is common, for some reason, but not standard.

Just look at your OSD. Via the monitors built in buttons. I run BF2 @ 1920x1200 just fine. Of course it runs at 1920x1200 just the vertical is a little bit chopped off. When I look at the options it says 1280x960 though.

just add +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
to your start up short cut.

What the heck is OSD? On screen display? I dont think my Samsung 172T will tell me what res its at.

I set my video card to center 3d output rather than resize it. Then when I play 1280x960 I just have a 32 pixel border on the top and bottom of the screen. I can't even tell it is there.

Of course I suppose that is what you meant by widescreen mode.

I only have the BF2 Demo. I added those commands in the target line box and it didn't work. Does this only work in the full retail version of the game?

To jj2005: +szx +szy should also work in the demo

To rnp614: if your monitor can't display on screen the resolution it's currently running at you'll have to trust that it's running at the resolution because the game's video option screen won't display the true resolution.

Here's a copy and paste from my BF2 shortcut:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024

It should.

My LCD shows it, but it's a ViewSonic.

I believe the Dell 1905's at work also show it.

Oddly though, atleast for me, the HUD (mini-map, chat text, etc) is the same size, but the console text, text above characters and the rest of the graphics look like they're 1280x1024.
