Pretty standard for it to be against TOS for sites for you to share your password.

I have nothing on my Facebook that I really wouldn't want my employer to know about, but I'd still tell them to fuck off if I was asked to do this in an interview. That's ridiculous.

This. My facebook is extremely bare because I don't care about it, but I'd still tell the interviewer to fuck off.

As far as I am concerned, I will never give a password out to anyone, employer or otherwise. That is private information.

I don't know why the fuck colleges would be asking for that, but employers hold all the cards and they WILL tell you to bend over and you WILL do it because you need to put food on the table. Capitalism 101 folks. As long as jobs keep disappearing and the middle class keeps shrinking, be prepared to eat more shit.

Class warfare!!! Rich are winning! Everyone else will be slaves.

passwords? fuck off you aren't getting my password. I seem to remember someone posting about a job wanting ALL passwords to all accounts. From facebook, any and all forums and your BANK!

also a article i read brings up a good question. Facebook's TOS states you are not to share or give your password to ANYONE else OR allow them on your account. hmm

This is crazy. Hell I work in the gambling sector and even with all the background checks and finger-printing we have to do they don't make us give them Facebook access.

Certain kinds of questions are illegal for them to ask, and my guess is that these kinds of things will be ruled illegal as well.

This is actually something that should make this practice illegal. You can't ask if someone is married in an interview, but you can easily see it if you have access to their fb account.

An argument can be made that you waived your privacy right by making it public. Of course, that would depend on HOW public. Clearly, private messages between two people (even on facebook) is not public. That's why the asking for the pass is bad news bears.

How is it 'public' if it requires your consent to be seen?

Corporate Thug, what if you are a party to a lawsuit. can someone suing you , through the discovery process, require you to reveal information from something like FB? has this type of issue gone before the courts yet?

Time to start punching people in the throat. When a person has to decide if it's worth being crippled for life they'll stop asking.

The courts would just go around you and subpoena FB directly to get what they need.

Dont have FB, wonder what they would say when I told them that?

Even if someone has a private profile, you can still find their account by searching. You just can't see any of the information on their profile.

Nothing on my Facebook... but I'd tell them to go fuck themselves.

The sad thing is that kiddies et al may be so desperate for a job that they may do it without a second thought.

If you say you don't have one, they'd probably think you were lying. Lose-lose.

I don't even have my FB password memorized.

This is first time hearing of this, but am almost not surprised.

This follows that article a few weeks ago that FB can be more accurate personality profile whatever compared to the front people put on in interviews.

But yea. Employers & colleges can fuck off.
Not like they wouldn't learn of my real personality soon after.

Doesn't really matter in a way though.
My boss already advises us to use FB & Twitter for our business stuff. Although I rarely visit our Twitter account anymore.
My boss has been over my shoulder plenty of times when I've been bullshitting on FB. I'm either always trolling, talking shit with friends, or spamming music.

Although I'm not like my one coworker who airs out ANY & ALL issues & drama on FB as if it's Twitter.
That shit is a little more acceptable on Twitter.
Not that hearing about all that bullshit is acceptable on any social networks anyway.
Publicly posting pictures & talking about smoking weed, having 700 friends. And have a kid? That's just asking to lose the shorty...
She even has 2 other people we share the office with as friends on FB. o_O

I would never divulge this information. It's unethical & unprofessional for any employer to even ask...

just say no. the people have to tell these idiots to piss off

haha, yeah. That's like telling your employer to go fuck himself when he asks for a piss test. No piss, no job. Deal with it. No FB, no job. This is America. We have a right to not hire people unless they provide personal information and naked pictures of their children.
