Employers and colleges asking for FB passwords during interviews

I have nothing on my Facebook that I really wouldn't want my employer to know about, but I'd still tell them to fuck off if I was asked to do this in an interview. That's ridiculous.

This is crazy. Hell I work in the gambling sector and even with all the background checks and finger-printing we have to do they don't make us give them Facebook access.

Certain kinds of questions are illegal for them to ask, and my guess is that these kinds of things will be ruled illegal as well.

An argument can be made that you waived your privacy right by making it public. Of course, that would depend on HOW public. Clearly, private messages between two people (even on facebook) is not public. That's why the asking for the pass is bad news bears.

Even if someone has a private profile, you can still find their account by searching. You just can't see any of the information on their profile.

This is first time hearing of this, but am almost not surprised.

This follows that article a few weeks ago that FB can be more accurate personality profile whatever compared to the front people put on in interviews.

Not like they wouldn't learn of my real personality soon after.

My boss already advises us to use FB & Twitter for our business stuff. Although I rarely visit our Twitter account anymore.
My boss has been over my shoulder plenty of times when I've been bullshitting on FB. I'm either always trolling, talking shit with friends, or spamming music.

Although I'm not like my one coworker who airs out ANY & ALL issues & drama on FB as if it's Twitter.
That shit is a little more acceptable on Twitter.
Not that hearing about all that bullshit is acceptable on any social networks anyway.
Publicly posting pictures & talking about smoking weed, having 700 friends. And have a kid? That's just asking to lose the shorty...
She even has 2 other people we share the office with as friends on FB.
