Umm... most likely Spidey07 makes shit up.

Keep this lying to where you and Dave do it best.. P&N.

We prefer the TRUTH here in OT.

As far as "publicly available..." There's a huge gray area to those words. Your friends may screw you over through the: "by allowing this application, you give <company> permission to use your data and photos and your friends' data and photos that it needs to work."

Well, i just noticed that they said he was also holding an alcoholic beverage at the same time so that makes it an issue. If he was just holding the rifle without a beer would it still be something that a company needs to hear about?

I'm not making a point about gun ownership, if its legal where the guy is then its obviously ok.

I'd definitely think twice about hiring the kind of person who poses in a group brandishing various weapons and posts the photos on the internet.

You dont think that's an odd and slightly disturbing thing to do?

i think i wanna close my FB account.

I wouldn't put it past the greedy ass owner to have it set up where it still keeps your info on the server, even after you "delete" your account. They don't give 2 shits about their users privacy. Why anyone would defend that scum bag is beyond me, sure what I'm saying are just my assumptions, but the way he does business it's a pretty damn safe one.

I have most people blocked for just about everything. But even IF they get my info somewhere, they won't find anything stupid. Just don't be stupid and you'll be fine.

Who the fuck cares? Don't post pics of you doing dumb shit online.

I have friends, family, and co-workers on my facebook. I don't post anything on there that I wouldn't say in front of all of them.

If you treat facebook like you would a busy street corner where anyone in public can see you, you won't have anything to worry about.

Same here. Anything I post on FB is acceptable for my 10yo cousin to see. If an employer is bothered by stuff like that then that's a sign I don't want to work for that company.

HR folks simply aren't doing their jobs if they don't search for a prospective new employee on social media. I just can't understand why some people say what they do on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc...

I don't have anything on my Facebook that's necessarily negative or inappropriate, .

this, im tagged in all of 2 photos i either havent filled on or deleted everything in personal info, likes and all that crap, where i work isnt there where i live isnt there, as little as possiable is there

actually i do have the entire "Best Joke Ever" up in my notes

it makes me laugh thinking about some background info company reading through that whole thing

A friend of mine tagged me on FB in a funny pic with me in a dress (I had a full beard and very heavy leg hair). I untagged myself because I was looking for work.

I don't post stupid shit on FB. That's what ATOT is for 😛

I like the way you think. I might have to add the "Best Joke Ever" to my profile.

Yup. I de-tag myself in every photo that I don't upload. People can't easily find my profile (pretty much just a friend of a friend is the only way unless I find you). If people do find my profile there isn't really anything that I would care if people know. For example, I have gone skydiving with friends. I run a lot. I have pictures of food I've made and of me and the gf.

I basically treat FB as a professional site and am pretty draconian when it comes to what I allow to my profile to be associated with. I don't do applications or any of that stuff, I don't "like" companies, I post news articles as 80% of my posts. If they did find my profile, it really wouldn't bother me. Although I still dislike it...

That's the worst part, you don't even have to post stupid shit about yourself to be screwed by it. Other people will go ahead and do that for you.

Credit checks, background checks, social media scouring, HR Google efforts...in a few years, only Mormons will be employable.

My level of concern: 0
Not only do I not Facebook, but if I Google myself (including address) in 10 pages of results I only find ONE legitimate hit, and that was a twitter post from my wife when I got my MBA. As far as the public-record internet it concerned I don't exist.

Common sense when posting. Aside from that though, this should be illegal. Too much prying into your personal life, which has little to do with the job or future performance. Take Charlie Sheen for example. He partied his brains out on weekends, but always came in to work on time and took his job seriously. Seems like too many employers want to control their employees lives these days. The crackberry started that trend. It's a form of voyeurism if you ask me.

Privacy laws need to be updated to prevent employers from purchasing/abusing this data. I'll say it strait up. That level of intrusion into private lives is unethical.

The internet is public, don't do anything on it you wouldn't do on the street.

Um, doesn't it serve you right? Don't post stupid crap on the web for everyone to see and you'll be fine.
