Extremely high. Lexington NBC station's GM, first responders and emergency workers, relatives, etc. How can you be so stupid to think that some of them didn't see it?

How can you be so stupid to think that relatives who just lost a family member in a crash and probably haven't even gone home yet are watching the emmies at 7pm?

How can you be so stupid as to have no idea about what victims do. I was home an hour after my father's plane crashed. You can have a hundred million dollars if you find a single relative of mine that didn't watch the news that night.

I've lost 3 family members to cancer, but I don't go around crying like a baby when a tv show has a cancer patient in it. Grow up and stop thinking the world revolves around you.

So the news and the emmies are the same thing now?

"Shhh...I love Conan O'Brien! I hope the masturbating bear comes on! We'll talk at the next commercial."

No one is calling you a PUSSY, atleast I'm not. Are you saying that all plane crashes be taken out of all TV and movies? Who was doing a victory dance after the emmys?

I, for one, think it was insensitive for the pilot to crash that plane and he easily could have done it the day after the skit aired. He intended to ruin Conan's reputation by making him seem like an apathetic twit when, in reality, he does care.

actually i am very suprised at the anger at conan. Where is the anger at the idiot pilot that took off from the wrong runway? nope none for him. lets all bash Conan for a silly script that was made weeks or months before the plane crashed.

It brings back painful memories. We get it. But think about all the people killed in boating accidents, starve to death, hit with a golf ball, drown, struck by lightning, murdered, raped, etc. Each of these people (or their relatives) will remember something about the incident that changed their life. They aren't pussies for not wanting to relive it, but they shouldn't force the other 6 billion people in the world to not relive it.

If we could never talk about or view anything that brings up bad feelings for people, we would have no TV, radio, music, books, etc...

This show didn't parody a plane crash. Conan didn't jump out of a burning plane and starting screaming "Someone put me out!" He crashed (we ASSUME) and lands on an island.

In Lt. Robinson Cruse, a Disney film, Dick Van *** crashes his plane in the pacific and washes up on an island. This was not a parody; it was a plot enhancement.

YOU have no logic skills.

Hey, what is eats more pu$$y than I do?
Cervical cancer! Get it? I bet that line is in a movie somewhere....

Heck, I actually thought of an example in the past month. An episode of It's always sunny where charlie fakes having cancer to get sympathy from the waitress.

So you are saying Conan didn't hold onto his seats and scream? The plane didn't start rocking or shaking violently? Yeah, that's not a parody of a plane crash or what a victim feels.

So that constitutes making fun of crash victims. That was making fun of those people in KY?

yes, did you?

Yes, I did. Such a skit, mere hours after a major plane crash, should have been cut.

It is really fun reliving this all over again and wonder if my father was grabbing the seat and if his friends were screaming.

Say what you asshats want. You've never been there, and you lack a basic human social skill of empathy. One day you will experience a tragedy that devastates you, and then wonder why some people don't empathize with you. Guess their bull wasn't getting gored.

It *was* making fun or crash victims. How could it not be? Why else would he scream, yell, and they show the plane violently shaking?

At least once. ;) Anything shown on TV is a national broadcast...

Do you know what a parody is? A parody is a humorous imitation of something serious and real. A parody must be intentionally and unquestioningly mocking a real event; they must be similar.

1) Kentucky took crashed on take off. Conan had turbulence mid air.
2) Kentucky crashed in the woods, on the ground. Conan crashed in the ocean,
3) Kentucky DIAF, there was only one survivor who was critical. No one in Kentucky met anyone famous. Conan washed up on an island and met a cast member of a TV show.

Other than a plane crash, please tell me where this is so similar and so mocking that it is a parody? The plane crash was the vehicle by which to get Conan on the island with the LOST case member. I guess they could have used a boat...but why would Conan take a boat across the country to get to the Emmy's?

You sir have no idea what a parody is, and just because a plane crash was used in a plot, it doesn't mean it is a parody of slightly similar events.

From the site I linked:

"I first met Eddie Hyde in September of 1963 while we were students at Pitman Jr. High School in Hueytown, Alabama. Eddie and I developed a friendship that year that would last until his death. I can truly say that I have never had a closer friend than Eddie Hyde, someone with whom I shared so much of my life. Eddie and I started working at Bruno's around the same time in 1967 and you could say that we learned the "ropes" together. However our friendship went much deeper than just a relationship at work. We served in the Army at the same time, got married the same year to our beautiful wives, and experienced the happiness of our children being born together. Eddie was a funny man who could make a joke with anyone and could even get away with kidding Mr. Angelo when no one else could because of his genuine attitude and personality. Eddie was a hard working man who was very successful at Bruno's achieving the position of VP of Operations while still in his late 30's. He was also a man of deep religious convictions who placed his Lord above and before everything else in his life. I guess you could say that he was just an all round good guy who was never too busy to help someone or just share some laughs. As the years have passed since Eddie was killed I have thought of my dear friend often and still find a tear in my eye when I remember all the great experiences that we had together. Eddie was 40 years old when he died and left a wife and two sons and many friends who loved him and cherish his memory.

I'm Eddie Hyde's youngest son. I'm sorry that I find the depiction of plane crash mere hours after a major crash to be disturbing. Perhaps because I've experienced something that many of you never will. You'll never be checked out of school at 9am and then told your father is dead minutes later. You'll never grow up wondering why it had to happen and why the pilot made a simple mistake. You'll never grow up and feel that same pain again everytime a plane crashes and you wonder what the family is going through.

9/11 was probably one of the worst days of my life. I felt very sick about this latest crash as well, but I simply think the Conan skit was in bad taste. Agree or disagree, I'm done with this thread. I'm not a PC person, but a little sensitvity hours after a major aviation accident shouldn't be too much to ask. Perhaps one day you'll see my side of the story, but probably not since this is ATOT and no one cares about empathizing. They simply like being hard-asses with giant e-penises and a total lack of respect for society and its social institutions.

It was not making fun of crash victims. Showing how a victim would react isn't making fun of.

And how would this be any different for you if KY hadn't happened? Your father still would have died in the crash and you would still not like reliving it. You don't like seeing depictions of plane crashes, period. It has nothing to do with the temporal relation to the Kentucky crash.

Was Headwound Harry on SNL wrong because it made everyone with a headwound relive the event?
