difference between this and the concorde is that the concorde trip went very very fast, im sure this one is on a regular, yet luxurious jet.

concorde im sure that it was rough or packed to the brim to get people from one end of the atlantic to the other.

remember the people willing to shell out 20K for a trip across the atlantic, or whereever, in like 3 hours are people that would lose money seeking another alternative. in other words time is money

<snip>
The information on the site indicated A340 - so, it's definitely an AirBus jet.

um.. if someone can afford 10k airfare they wouldn't be too far off from a personal jet eh?

simply to rent a personal jet costs in the neighborhood of 50k, and that is for domestic flights

there's far cheaper options out there now... check out the companies that let you 'share' private aircraft.. it's big business now

not even that can hide the fact that it's a crappy airbus :thumbsdown:

Actually $10k from US/Europe to Asia is pretty normal for first class. A high-end business jet would cost 5-10 times as much over the same route.

Airbus is government subsidized which makes it hard for Boeing to compete with their prices.

I don't want to turn this in a pissing match but the EU has the same complaint about Boeing using the funds it receives from it's military programs (US tax money) to fund it's commerical liners

anyways - both Airbus and Boeing make great planes, it's just that Airbus sells more of them and they are most certainly not "crappy"

I agree, Airbus is definitely not crappy, I actually prefer flying A320's to the 737 (more room.) But EADS, an 80% partner in Airbus, makes plenty of money in defense. It's one thing to make money by winning a defense contract, it's another to take a handout from your government.
