all of you guys dissin hip hop are really whack cause i'm almost positve that you don't know the first thing Hip Hop. hip hop is a LIFESTYLE not just a form of music it goes beyond what you precive as "jungle jive" and BTW that's a raceist comment if i've ever heard one, anyway hip hop is a philosiphy on life. as far as EMININEM's new song it sucks and dissing everlast is wrong because i don't think he did anything to provoke it if he did i don't know anyway wishing death on people is wrong no matter what media you use to express that.

Another thing about hiphop, not just the massive turnover rate in popularity of it's creators, is that unlike other forms of music (classical, rock, pop, blues), a massive percentage of it's fan base is from young people. My friends and I used to listen to it when we were teens but as we hit the age of around 20 or early 20's we just turned from it. I still listen to some now and then, but at least if you're going to call Eminem a hiphopper you have to realize that most of his fans are essentially kids. What does that really say about the quality?

The above is a generalization; some of it is good no matter how old you are...

anyone know why that dumbass eminem hate everlast so much?

<< I woulnd't say hiphop is a fad either. Its here to stay, >>

the only music that have stayed with us is classical music - hip hop won't last. it's popular now but in ten years, who knows? look at rock and roll today, I bet our parents thought it would still be popular. and before you flame me off, just know that I used to listen to hip hop (I still like some r&b) but outgrew it.

what you fail to understand is that there are different types of hiphop. there is that which IS just a fad, e.g. Jay Z, DMX, Cashmoney and No Limit (especially them), because all they talk about is money. DMX doesnt even talk in complete sentences, he just barks and growls. anyone here his freestyles? hahahah

anyways, then there is the other side of hiphop, the side whose message will ring out 10+ years from now, as seen in songs like Slick Ricks, thug story(? i forgot what the name of the song is, but black rob ripped it off and made his own version).

This is one of the better threads I've read in awhile here. haha. Props to CT & KV for sticking to their "guns". No pun intended. I listen to all types of music but was turned on to Rap/Hip Hop in highschool. Damn, I remember Run-DMC, Beastie Boys, Slick Rick (the Rulah!):) Public Enemy etc, etc.

Eminem is prolly the best freestyler to ever come up. That's the reason he got a deal in the first place. Whomever said it was correct; he can just bust out rhymes about anything.

He sends a horrid message to young kids. No question there. My friend's 8 year old niece was singing, verbatim, one of his songs. (Not good IMO) Now, whether that is the responsibility of X or Y, is not the point...at least to this thread.;)

Finally, to the point, thanks for posting this CT. I've always had a sick interest in these "battles". I think it started way back (most of you, even the fans, are gonna be like, "wwhhooo??") with Uncle Jam's Army vs. The World-Class Wrecking Crew I think that's who it was, anyway.:) Then UTFO vs. Roxanne Shante, MC Shan vs. BDP,LL vs. Ice T., LL vs. Cool Moe D, LL vs. Cannibis (LL hated everyone:)) Eazy-E vs. Dre, Soy mentioned 3rd Bass vs. Beastie Boys, there was also 3rd Bass vs. MC Hammer (believe it or not) Then there was KRS-1 vs. PM Dawn KRS-1 actually shoved that one fat guy off the stage once. That was crazy. Ice Cube vs. DJ Pooh, Tupac vs. Biggie and crap loads more I can't remember.

Anyway, Eminem vs. ICP=good but Eminem vs. Everlast=bad and Eminem calling out the Irish=worse.:D

That pretty much says it all. Can't even remember the name of a song that's going to "ring out 10+ years from now". Yeah, I'm sure it will <cough>. This crap is old and forgotten before a few months pass. To call that garbage music is an insult to people that can sing, write, compose and play. It deserves insults in return.

And if you don't want to hear "Ivory Ebonics", speak friggen English or there's a hell of a lot more coming at ya!

KRS-1 is the greatest rapper ever. Maybe not the best lyricist, but he has always been level headed and intelligent.

johnLee: I was ready to give up on this here board.. thanks :D

ha no sh!t... i dont know whats up with dissin the irish... man i know some crazy f's that would prob shoot him for that if they had the chance.. that was not smart on his part... not smart at all.. and yeah he does send a terrible message most of the time.. but he's so good at it.. hehehe.. i've been to my fair share of underground hip hop shows and seen freestyles, so i have confidence in saying that he is one if not the nastiest freestyle i've seen(although im sure there are peeps who would wipe the floor with him)

so i guess this all started when Everlast said as I posted B4
Everlasts verse:
I'll buck a 380 on ones that act shady/
Im original like Grady, check my Sanford son/
you know you aint the one that rep peckerwood status
I'll bust that ass, keep your eyes on the floor
what you comin here for, son you know the law
lets take it back to the house, slide off your blouse
lift up your skirt and expose your panties
for the world to see you cant rep like me.

anyways its gonna be interesting to see how this pans out.. considering eminem is on tour with LB who obviously has DJ Lethal, former House of Pain DJ

ornery, wanna know WHY i cant remember the name of that song? its because it was made BEFORE MY FVCKING TIME! i had to have been no more than 5 when it was released, but because i love hiphop, i listen to all the old stuff. i have a WHOLE tape collection at home.

and perhaps you havent noticed, but that DEFINITLY is NOT ebonics. perhaps if you wouldnt try to stereotype the way we speak wiht "those people" as you so eloquently put it in another post, you would realize that how we say s_hit (ish) is no different then how you people say f_uck (fvck). but i guess you never thought about it like that, im sure you were recollecting the time you got ripped off at a chuckie cheese for your tokens by a "minority kid", and associating the way we speak with them, correct? thereby taking out your anger on us?

As I said before - and I'll repeat it - many people are still waiting for the "next big thing" in music. It has been here for awhile. It IS hip-hop and those of you who don't believe it just don't have a clue.

"Rock" is a 'has-been'. The music industry has already relegated it to a "specialty" market much like Country and Western and rock no longer dominates the music market.

Get used to it. The graffiti on the wall is there for all to see.

...and puh'haps ya' gotsnt noticed, but dat DEFINITLY be NOT ebonics. puh'haps if ya' wouldnt try t'stereotype da damn way we rap wiht "dose sucka's" as ya' so's eloquently put it in anoda' post, ya' would realize dat how we say s_hit (ish) be no different den how ya' sucka's say f_uck (fvck). but ah' guess ya' neva' dought about it likes dat, im sho' man ya' wuz recollectin' de time ya' gots ripped off at some chuckie cheese fo' yo' tokens by some "mino'ity kid", and associatin' de way we rap wid dem, co'rect, dereby takin' out yo' anga' on us?

Do you "remember" the title for any songs by Led Zeppelin? How about Pink Floyd? Clapton? Hendrix? Why do you remember those? They were before your time too. Those artists will still have tunes on the air waves 30 and 40 years after they were penned. Must be some difference between them and rappers, no? I still think it's because the latter isn't memorable music by any stretch.

Believe me, I hate all juvenile delinquents. I particularly hate bumpin boneheads playing this BS that you think passes for music at a high volume for no other reason than annoying entire neighborhoods. Assholes playing nothing but bass line BS. Tell me they aren't just trying to be annoying. Tell me 3/4 of the people that support what you consider music don't fit in this category.

What's your point Ornery? You must just be getting old (and ornery).

You are using the same old and tired arguments your parents used to tells us; the "greats" like Sinatra, Ellington, and Gershwin were superior to the "noise" by Zeppelin, the Who and the Beatles.

Let's go back further. Music is still being played and enjoyed after hundreds of years by the great "classical" composers. Does longevity make it more important music than that what you love?

Hip-hop is a new (to us) art form. It is here to stay. It is creative and powerful. And in 20, 30 or 40 years it will still be played (even though ANOTHER form of music will likely dominate).

Don't dis it just because you can't relate to it.

as a matter of fact ornery, i do NOT know a single title by any of the artists you have mentioned. i may know the tunes to their songs, but i dont know the names.

we blast music because we are FEELING IT, we get in the zone, where the music is flowing through us, and taking us to another level. you mean to tell me as a teen, you never put your headphones and blasted some of the doors, or kiss?

p.s. just because some "dialectizer website" calls it ebonics, does not qualify it as that.

Yo on the real, I'm tired of people hatin on the black culture. Music is music and hip-hop has become a major part of our culture.

Vicious WTF are you talkin about? Do you even listen to Rap? How the f@ck you can call the likes of DMX and Jay-Z fads? These are the guys that have been on the scene for a long time and are keeping rap real. Now the likes of Cassh Money and that down south crap is a fad. DMX is the best. If you can't relate to what he has to say then shut the f@ck up and don't hate.

BTW, Eminem does suck and I wouldn't be surprised if one of these rap cats lay his sorry @ss to rest sometime soon.

Actually, I know most of the titles by the artists Ornery mentioned. And I enjoy some of their work. However, with the exception of Clapton, there is noting NEW. Just the same old, same old, repeated over and over again ad nauseam on the classic rock radio stations.

Hip hop is new. I enjoy it a lot (but not to the exclusion of all other music). It's just that "alternative" is now rather boring (except where it incorporates hip hop) and classic rock is all but dead.
