i dont particularly like country music or heavy metal. i do not post in every thread about country or heavy metal that it sucks. i try to be constructive. of course i also consider myself to be an intelligent , rational , educated person. possibly all you very vocal rap haters who continue to just say it sucks with no reason at all just arent like me. and well i guess that your being ignorant and closed minded is good enough a punishment.

Actually, there seems to be a direct correlation between this "rap" music and degradation of society. Living in NYC, I see idiots trying to live the life of many of these "great rappers" ie. Cash Money, Nelly, Ludacris... These people are extremely materialistic, selfish, and very ignorant of anything else. For example, I was waiting for my bus and this short hispanic girl is talking (very loudly right next to me so it wasn't like I purposely eavesdropped to their great almighty lives) to her homies about breaking up with some guy because she spent $400 of him for jerseys and sneakers and for valentines he bought her $60 Timberland boots. Wow, that is simply great. Of course she was wearing urbanwear with Jordan sneakers, Fubu t-shirt, and some Avirex jacket and as soon as she got on the bus she put put on her headphones and blared her rap music. I could hear it clearly from 10 ten feet away and I am sure everyone else on the bus appreciated her sharing.
Now before you people burn me to a crisp for taking one example and using it as a basis for all, I have been riding the subways for 6 years now and yes it is getting to a point where these kids are very ignorant. I listen to highschool kids on the trains in the bronx and most of these kids are constantly talking about fighting, stealing, and wearing the dope stuff. Education here is a joke in most highschools and this rap game is not helping. Suddenly it is cool to resist and put down police :disgust:. Oh yeah drugs are a must and make sure to just bang girls all day. Wow. And it is not just the adolescent blacks in poor income societies, rap has made it big in my area, a predominantly upper-middle class white area. Having their parent's money (yeah like a hs kid who doesnt know how to do the cube root of 8 is going to work his ass off to buy a navigator), these kids drive nice cars and blare their music and dress like Nelly and hang around at the corners. Oh getting an education is one of the lower priorities in these people's lives. What the hell are they thinking.
I can understand enjoying your music, I have little problem with that. But trying to live a crappy life is completely stupid. Ask one of these kids to help a grandma with her groceries and you can be sure that the one who does will be a "loser" according to his peers. There is no real message in mainstream rap. Get money, get hoes. Wow. A curse every other sentence. Some great lyrics we've got here. Getting hot in herrrre. Man these artists are a disgrace and whats worse is that its affecting the music in other countries as well. In Korea, we have posers rapping in Korean/english about getting drunk, AKs, money, and i think girls. I love the fob accent in their nonsensical english lyrics. I listen to rap as well and so know a little bit of what I am talking about. Jurrasic5, talib kweli, Tupac, grandmaster flash, mos def, and eminem are some of those that I tend to listen to. And it is 2 in the morning here so I am sorry if much of my post is convoluted but 8 mile should be an interesting movie and yes most singers should NOT try to become movie stars.

Nicely said...but I don't see any reason not to try their hand at acting...btw eminem acted pretty good in that movie.
