I hope we get early warning on that meteor. I want to buy the land where it is calculated to hit. Meteorite material selling at $45/g (pray for a pallasite), I'd be rich!

As far as general preparedness, let's review:

1) Live in desert
2) with million+ neighbors, 400,000 of which are at least 126 years old
3) with insufficent water supply dependent upon a 600 mile long canal system with multiple pumping stations
4) with local food supply limited to pecans and hay
5) with only six roadways out of town, three of them two lanes, and two under permanent reconstruction
6) with limited local power production
7) with nearest refinery 300 miles away
8) with one trauma center in town

I don't worry too much.

I'm stuck on an island with 1 way out (which happens to be the #1 terrorist target: Manhattan) should there be mass panic... fug it.

I've always thought about taking shelter at a BJs/Costco though.

lol, the gun will melt if you fire all those magazines consecutively. that's like 500 round, assuming 20 round per mag.

That's why you find one of these. 😀

lol, I hope you don't plan to run away from the zombies humping that M249

I wonder what the spread is like when you are shooting NATO round in the saw.

No need to run.

I'm in a dorm so I have plenty of peanut butter, canned tuna, bread, cereal and camping equipment (for outing club trips). I could eat well for a week or ration for a month.

unless you are sitting on a humongous pile of mags, you will have to run.

I thought that was the point. 😛

I have too much ammo to carry, anyway...I'd have to take the truck...

when the apocalypse comes...u dine on people...

I have about 10 cases of MREs ready to go in the basement, and tons of other food staples stocked up in sealed containers. Backup generator as well.

I have my own well, so water shouldn't be much of a problem, but I do have about 6 cases of bottled water or so (just stuff I was left over with after hunting season).

Hundreds of thousands of rounds of various centerfire ammunition, not to mention about the same in .22 LR.

And of course, I have my copy of the zombie survival guide.

Your truck would be a much better weapon, mow them down!. Invest in solid wheels.

I have..

A good amount of ammo and two hand guns.

Cache of camping gear.

Hand crank radio.

Flashlights and batteries out the ass.

Two Pelican water proof contains to store items that must remain dry.

First aid kit.

Camping stove gas.

5 gallon and 2 gallon gas containers that I rotate the gas in.

Extra matches, zippo lighter, replacement flints, plenty of fuel for it also.

A decent amount of canned chicken and tuna as well as ready to server canned goods.

My wife and I actually have a Shit Hits The Fan list that we maintain on our iPhones and slowly get what supplies we feel like we'd need if the shit ever did hit the fan in any regard.

Oh and lots of foil, gotta make full body suites to protect ourselves!

I think I've read to many zombie books 🙁

Plastic tub w/ water, canned food, can opener, first aid kit, emergency cash & copies of personal documents, hand crank flashlight.

I need matches, a tarp and a handcrank radio.

Gun, 200 rounds of ammo always on hand and replaced regularly.

5 gallons of drinking water always cycled out of basement fridge so as to be kept fresh.

5 gallons of gasoline always kept on hand also cycled through so as to be kept fresh, but I throw Stabul in there to be sure.

Food for a month in pantry and the wife's got a couple hundred of dollars of MRE's in the basement.

$1500 cash in the safe.

Just started the generator yesterday.

I must have a dozen assorted battery-less flashlights

One three day multi-state blackout was all it took for us to take this seriously. It would have gotten real interesting if it had gone on for a couple of weeks.

The same thing my parents did when people were building bomb shelters in their yards and that I did during the Y2K BS: Nothing.
