My local Wal-Mart had about 20, got 1 for me and one for a friend.

they sold like 3 or 4 more in the 20 min i was there, they are going fast, I would all but guarentee they are gone by now.

makeing restore discs right now, and yeah it seems pretty quick, plenty of computer for average web surfing,Office aps, and Email, and probably the old game or 2, and movies too.

i just downloaded wdc acronis for free for backups (drive in laptop is a wd)... i use the diskwizard free version for my seagate drives... it's fast and compresses great...

You get a little alert an item is going to be 'on sale' soon...so you know they will price adjust within 30 days usually.

You go out with your shiny CC and buy up all the stock and list on ebay.

you sell, they buy, you go back and adjust the price get cash back, they get screwed.

the flip side is you just then return all the items and the store gets screwed.

I just picked one up from the walmart here in Big Rapids, MI and they had 5 left. Not a bad laptop for $298. I was thinking about buying a netbook to carry in my back pack for classes but this will work just fine for that.

I think this case is an exception to the NEVER NEVER call the store rule since this item has been in a public advertisement and is not an pricing mistake or clearance item no one instore knows about. So, don't pass GO, don't collect $$, but DO call your nearby stores. Make the effort and you may be rewarded grasshopper

I wonder if the Acer at MicroCenter uses the same memory as what's installed in this WM laptop....since this eMachines WM laptop uses DDR3 RAM. Wonder if Acer just forgot to update the specs for the memory to reflect the change to DDR3.

Uh Hell yes, it crushes that laptop, even plays low end games and i tested 1080P play back and it worked great, try that on your old lappy.

Plus you can probably get like $200.00 for your old lappy if it is in good condition.

it read my aoc 23' correctly, as 1080p res... it looks nice doing a movie, even... but the dvd drive seems to be spinnning up faster (and is noisier) running casino royal at first, but then it slowed down to nearly silent again...

the speakers won't win any awards, though...

The '2' key on mine only works half of the time and makes a noise every time i press it while the other keys are pretty much silent. So there's something broken or not connected right physically under the key. I'm just going to box it up and bring it back and hope they have one to exchange it with. If they don't have one I wonder if they will give me something comparable or order another one for me?

Where are you seeing DDR3? The Wally-World page says DDR2-667....

if you want money back, take it back to store... if you want another, try the store, but if they don't have any more you get your money back... if you want it fixed do warranty through emachines... might be nice for you to test the warranty process for us...

It is extremely hard to compare mobile platforms. There are so many different configurations and options that it's hard to figure out just how much better one notebook is compared to another.

then take advice: this is a rockin' good deal... this laptop will suffice for 99% of the world's pc users as a main system... it's not a gaming platform, though...
