Homelessness is a complex issue because so many situations contribute to homelessness. It's not as simple as just building homes. Some are on the streets due to drugs, some due to mental health, and some just due to losing their job. I'm sure there are other reasons as well.
Should we build more housing, and specifically more affordable housing? Yes. That alone will not solve the homelessness problem. The US needs to build affordable condos with security, and modern amenities. This will help alleviate the housing crunch.
The US also needs to increase funding for social services to help those down on their luck, or suffering from addition or mental health issues.
