Edge lords win edge lord prizes. News at 11.

Edit: Ok that was a flippant take, but I think the award is wasted on Musk. I think the *real* Person of the Year would be Joe Manchin (for almost single-handedly stalling the Dem agenda), Trump (for somehow galvanizing the GOP around his Big Lie when he should be persona non grata) or Greg Abbott (someone who could ultimately be considered responsible for overturning Roe V. Wade).

These are the people who single-handedly made the biggest difference in 2021 IMO.

Per Wiki…
As of 2012, it [Time] had a circulation of 3.3 million, making it the 11th-most circulated magazine in the United States, and the second-most circulated weekly behind People.[21] As of July 2017, its circulation was 3,028,013.[1] In October 2017, Time cut its circulation to two million.[22] The print edition has a readership of 1.6 million, 1 million of whom are based in the United States.

Time also cut its publication schedule down to biweekly. Less than one third of 1% of Americans read Time. Time is at the #22 spot in U.S. circulation, thirteen spots below Cosmoporn. :p

That one lane taxi tunnel in Las Vegas was such revolutionary design by Capt Tech Bros. Even had RGB LED like a fourteen year-old's gaming PC.

Should have given it to the virus. Some of those constructed images of it are quite pretty, would have been a more attractive cover illustration. Probably has a better personality as well.

I'm not completely against Elon ever, but what did he specifically do this year? Seams like there were much better options here.

I admire many of the accomplishments his companies do, but he is also a giant dbag and a hypocrite when it comes to politics and government. Also, he feels labor should commit their life to a company, but certainly not the reverse.

Elon Musk: inventor of the crappiest version of a subway.

Let's combine the expense of boring out subway tunnels with the inefficiency of everyone riding in their own pod, I mean Tesla taxi, into the ultimate failure piece of infrastructure.

All for the sake of not having to sit next to someone who might have less money.

On a side note: subway construction doesn't have to have astronomical costs - it's a unique problem for the US (look at costs in Europe and Japan).

He is also singlehandedly responsible for getting EV’s online at least a decade earlier, thus pushing the narrative that we gotta change our shit or planet kills us.

Solar too.

You too see humanity getting owned by terminators in the not too distant future? Dont worry, Nerualink will let us mindmelt with them, peace be upon us.

Planet killing rocks in space? Elon got a sapiens backup on mars and beyond.

The US is on the verge of quantum leaping everyone else in terms of mass to orbit, and that is from a position of not being able to do anything at all.

Yea. Fuck that guy :).

If you’re not a do’er at least get tf out the way of those who be :)

You don't pay taxes on unrealized equity gains. That is why it is unrealized. You pay taxes once you realize those gains.
He will be facing a huge tax bill in 2021 for realizing gains on Tesla stock.

This has been argued a lot, but borrowing against it and living off those loans should count as realization.

Elon is a mixed bag overall, but I think this choice is fine given Time's traditional criteria. Whether he is smart/dumb or whatever doesn't matter as much as he is driving forth future Green technology like no one else has been. He maybe is more an Edison than a Tesla in that regard, but that's still an important thing in the long run.
