You equate refusal to serve to betraying your people?
I am sure there are many here who would be all for public lynchings of any American found to be for example giving information to Al Qaeda. Completely different things.

if not supporting blowing up civilians is betraying your people, then yes you have to look at what absurdities the plo considers treason.
speak too loudly against hamas and they'll probably put a hit on ya to boot.
you don't seem to understand the concept of civil dissobedience. your supposed to take the punishment for your action, you don't protest and expect to be let off. jail time isn't the same as torture and execution no matter how you slice it.
http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf19.html#a1aYasser Arafat defended the killing of Arabs deemed to be "collaborating with Israel." He delegated the authority to carry out executions to the intifada leadership. After the murders, the local PLO death squad sent the file on the case to the PLO. "We have studied the files of those who were executed, and found that only two of the 118 who were executed were innocent," Arafat said. The innocent victims were declared "martyrs of the Palestinian revolution" by the PLO.8
Palestinians were stabbed, hacked with axes, shot, clubbed and burned with acid. The justifications offered for the killings varied. Sometimes, being employed by the Civil Administration in the West Bank and Gaza Strip was reason enough. In other cases, contact with Jews warranted a death sentence. In October 1989, a Palestinian father of seven was knifed to death in Jericho after selling floral decorations to Jews who were building a succah. Accusations of "collaboration" with Israel were sometimes used as a pretext for acts of personal vengeance. Women deemed to have behaved "immorally" were also among the victims.9
http://us.geocities.com/samuelmcramer/Since the intifada began in December 1987 scores of Palestinian Arabs have been murdered as "collaborators" with Israel; in the spring of this year [1989] the murder rate began to increase sharply. Even by the standards that obtain in the Arab world, the murders have been unusually brutal: the lucky victims were shot to death; the unlucky ones were tortured, raped, then hacked or bludgeoned to death. On June 8, for example, the Israeli press reported that "the naked, bloodstained body of Samir Abu Ras, 30, was found chained and hanging from an electricity pole outside the casbah. Palestinians said Abu Ras, who was known as a 'collaborator,' had been killed with hatchet blows."
The alleged offenses of the victims include working or shopping in Israel, selling land to Jews, giving information to Israeli security forces, and expressing interest in the latest Israeli proposal for elections. Despite the fact that early in 1989 Arafat threatened the life of Bethlehem mayor Elias Freij for proposing a truce that would make elections possible--"whoever thinks of stopping the intifada before it achieves its goals," declared Arafat, "I will give him ten bullets in the chest."--Israeli and foreign journalists continue to ask whether the killing of "collaborators" in the administered territories and the threat of killing in the Galilee are done on the initiative of local freelance operators or on orders from the PLO abroad.
