Electric shaver vs traditional shavers (e.g. Mach3) POLL included

Hey guys,

As the above topic suggests, I have a Mach 3 currently but for the college student like me, the price of the blades is getting quite expensive. I am considering changing to electric razors and for all of you guys I have the following questions.

1) Are the blades on the electric razors meant to be replaceable like traditional razor blades? If so how often are they replaceable, and what is the general cost of replacement?

2) Ideally, I would like to spend $60-70 maximum for a good electric shaver. Any suggestions?

BTW before anyone wisecracks, I only shave above the neck. Nothing below, I assure you😉

I have both as well, Mach 3 is so nice. But I alternate between the two. If I am really lazy or stoned or drunk or something I will buzz it. Electric isn't that close of a shave though, my girlfriend complains about the stuble when I am eating her out.

dont do it, i got that "James Bond" shaver from norelco and it does nothing but irrritate my skin. Nothing, I mean nothing is better than a decient blade, I use a twin blade shick and get a much better shave. The buzzer im giving to my girlfriend for her legs, a slow painful death for the shaver mwhahaha.

I have both. 90% of the time I use the electric because it is far faster and gets the job done. When I am trying to look extra nice (i.e. going to a formal event) or maybe have extra time, I use the Mach 3.

I would say get one as it is a nice time saver and does an acceptable job (I have a braun syncro).

I have a Norelco...spent about 70 on it, and it gets the job done quickly. Not as close as the Mach 3 (which I still use on rare occasions), but it does reasonably well and seems to be less irritating. As far as replacements, they cost about $30 for my razor, and they recommend changing them about once a year. I've used it for over a year and a half everyday (except for maybe two days), and haven't changed the blades yet, and it still is working just fine. I've really enjoyed it.

The mach 3 is closest, but the panasonic top of the line is the closest I've had with an electric, and its pretty close. Replace the foil maybe once a year? Iono how much it costs, but its not that much.

THe top of the line pana retails for 150, so its a little out of your budget. I love it though.

Panasonic is probably the best electric you can get. I spent $80 on mine a year ago and love it. I previously had a Norelco and didn't like it because you can't really cut a straight line with it. Get a wet/dry razor so you can just drop some soap in it and wash it out each time.

Can you guys give me the specific model number. I will take a look at it.

BTW do all wet/dry razors work like how you said, Sukhoi?

Ive got an electric razor and a mach 3, i normally use the electric unless i have more time, am planning on going somewhere nice or know i wont be able to shave for a few days.

+1

I have a fairly decent Norelco electric, but I must admit, I barely ever use it. Electric just isn't close enough for me - maybe I'm doing something wrong. I just shave with cheap-o disposable razors, never really tried a Mach3/Quattro.

Don't know about other models, but my Norelco electric recommends changing the blades once a year. I think its about $30 for a new set.

I bought a refurbed Braun last year off Amazon and works great. I was using the Mach3 for few months and nearly every time I would cut myself somewhere. I thought over time the cuts would subside, but it just didn't happen for me. Switched to the electric and works good for me. It doesn't get as close as the Mach3, but I don't see cuts anymore 🙂
