never adjust 2D settings, only the 3D.

Sorry but I still don't understand how the 2D and 3D settings work. I understand not to mess around with the 2D clock settings, but I still don't understand if it's necessary to manually pick either 2D or 3D depending on what I'm going to be doing? For example, manually click 2D when banging out messages at Anandtech 🙂, and then manually clicking 3D if I want to play a game?

assuming your using coolbits, in the overclocking tap, click the first drop down list and hit manual overclocking. Then, in the 2nd dropdown selecct perfermance (3D). It will then display your 3D clock speeds. You can either use the detect optimal frequancies to be on the safe side, or do the typical 5mhz at a time for maximum clocks. If you overclock your 3D speeds, and then look back at the 2D speeds, they will still be the same. Do not change those, as said, those are the speeds it clocks down to when your just using windows. Upping those only increases your temps, not like windows needs a whole lot of power.


Now...onto my question. At school now, the card is in trasit, should be there when I get home. If everything works, ill flash it. I have a PCI voodoo4 which I use for a 3rd monitor, so should I set to boot PCI first in my BIOS, that way in case of error I still have video? If my PCI card was the boot display, would it still flash the proper card? OR should I take the PCI card out to insure its flashing the right card, and if something doesnt work, just reset my bios (which defaults to PCI) and from there I can flash back? I am assuming a failed flash means the card wont even show a display in the bios, or will it? I am computer savvy, just never ventured into flashing before, I want to make sure I do it right.

I've also got a question about the whole auto detect bit. When I ran that it put my speeds to 423/1242, which crazy high. Of course it's so high that I get lots of pausing and stuttering.
The card runs like a champ at 410/1242, so I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering if the auto detect just goes to the highest frequency it won't downright crash on or is it more inteligent then that?

The core is fine, most peopel have been able to do 425 just fine, but thats damn high on the memory. Im suprised that your core is the one causing the studdering. What bios are you using on it? I have also heard that a higher mem clock = a lower gpu clock. I would say lower the mem back to 1100 for now, and see if you can run at 425 on the core totally stable. Then you know you ateast got a $330 ultra, which is nice. From there, just leave the core alone, and starting doing the ram in 5-10mhz incraments. Tets for stabiltity and then keep going to you get artifacting or "snow". When you do, drop it down another 10mhz, and that should be your max mem speed. After that, start running some really intensive games for a while and make sure your stable and not overheating.

Well after an evening of hell with a 325/700 ZZF , This morning I woke up fresh and went at it agian.Only bios I could get to flash was from cd the le-u15.rom. Then Coolbits etc said error at any speed . So I was like WTF... So I took winfox overclocking utility and IT WORKED .With the le-gt bios i would get a bad flash and with the floppy version with any bios it just sat there after verify....Scored 4973 at 400/1100 . Set it to 425/1200 had to go to work 🙁( .Well see when I get home.So all you 325/700 don't give up! After modding sata cables to clear this HO I was gonna slap her if it was the last thing i did.All the while the wife in the background going who cares you bought it on AMEX 😛! I have a newegg card.

I tried overclocking even 10mhz on the core and it still says its failing the test. I can't imagine it's the card if I can't overclock at all. Looks like a few people are having the same issue.

My temps are low, under 55 at load, under 50 at idle with an ambient of 45-50.

I have had issues with both the 1.4 and 1.5 ultra and gt bios. Recently fooling around with Riva Tuner I was able to unlock overclocking functions. It seems that when I change from dual display to single or vice verso, it will suddenly unlock itself for my use. Even then it never passes any test with a ram speed over 999 and I can't seem to get the settings to take (I save and apply and then check coolbits to see the old speeds represented).

Elfear, try underclocking the memory and then overclock the core. I had the same problem with my Newgg card. It was failing the test everytime until I underclocked the memory from 1100 to 1000.

i'm having isusses with my card which are probably due to my 350watt PSU. I am re-formatting and going to go thru a clean install of everything, and then if I still have problems i'm going to weigh in whether to spend another $100 on a PSU or just sell the card. But I might have to RMA it🙁

Gargamel66- Does your card perform ok when you do that? I'll try it but the main reason I bought the card was because I was expecting better results than my 6800GT. It'll do 400/1.1 all day so I was hoping for something better out of this 6800 L.E. How high have you gotten the core by lowering the ram?

Elfear, mine was stable/artifact free at 400/1000. Tried 425 but it wasn't stable. But still 1100 was what I paid for so I returned it. If I were you I would keep the GT and send this one back. I am planning on getting a GT.

Amd 2400xp clock at 2.0
1gig corsair value ram
Cheap ass mother board I just fixed up
350w duramax case( 35buck Damn this thing can handle my card?)
66.81 drivers

6800 LE EvGa I didnt overclock this thing in anyway. So im just wondering if this is a decent mark for non overclock card.

Well.. ZZF is now out of stock on these cards. Will make exchanges difficult, only option would be an RMA from eVGA I guess. Mine is due to arrive any minute now.. will post the stock out of box specs when I get it installed.

For purposes of checking DDR3, 1.6ns ram, 16 pipelines, core and clock speed.

I only read from forum:

- rivatuner (gfx info and check pipe)
- coolbits (o/c)

Hey Guys... Great work - I just registered to give you this piece of information. I too got a ZZF LE at 324/702. I just got off the phone with eVGA and the Tech Support gentleman said that they had a lot of calls and would be posting a BIOS to their website which enabled the 325/1100 setting for all of us who have the incorrect timings. All we need to do is register our cards on the website and then call back with our problem and they'll generate a support ticket and send us the BIOS.

This is great new for me at least cause I didn't want to have to RMA my 16x6 card and not get one in return.

EDIT: Based on this info, I used aonic's boot disk and flashed my board with the default LE BIOS and now have speeds of 324/1097. Will do testing later as I don't have easy access to a true system to test this in (i.e. P4-2.8 w/HT) but am working with a PIII 1.4 GHz (AGP 4X) machine which is easily accessible.

My Theory:
Iin the batch of ZZF they had the wrong bios on the LE's

Thanks for the info. Mine should be coming tomorrow. I think it might be 325/700 too.
Well, we can just flash it to yours+thugs LE-GT 1.5 bios. Np right?

if it was just a bios issue i would think so
also if you plan on keepin your card long i reecommend using 1.4 version
since the default on the card is 1.4

How does voltage really matter? 1.3 or 1.4? More power? Or any other benefits?
Drawback of high voltage is shorter lifespan.

higher volt = more OC ability+ shorter life span

i use 1.3 and can goto 430/1170

i wonder what i will get @ 1.5v 😛


i just checked my webstats and ive used 400+ megs bandwidth serving the boot disk kit 😱

so far I have 150 downloads of the evga_bios_kit.exe and 70 for evga_bios_kit.iso
then there were the older disks they used about 100 MB of BW all together
