Eh what the hell...UPDATED WITH CARD IN COMPUTER

"It seems that everyone is getting lower temps by 2-3 when moving the core to 350. What would cause it to run cooler at higher clock?"

I am curious about this as well. Couple questions:

- What to use to OC to a mild 350, Coolbits or RT? (what's the differences)
- Should I bump my AGP voltage from 1.55 to 1.65 for this?
- If this eVGA LE gets to 350 np, isn't it in essence exactly like a GT at 350 stock core? (other than slightly faster ram)

I am consistantly locking up in 3DMark05.

Bad card or better PS? Wouldn't the Antec 400 be enough?

Anyone know what would cause my card to act like this? Again Im a Noob, so take it easy. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
So the PS definitely relates to how much you can O/C this card?

I did lock up once when I ran 3DMark05 on the default settings.
I have an Antec SmartPower SL400 PS (their standard 400w), and it should be enough.

This is going to be intersting because I have a LanBoy with a 350watt Smart Blue PSU but nothing fancy in the system like Raid, multiple HD's, ect., so I hope I can at least run out of the box speeds.

I am running 350/1.1 with the stock power supply from my 400SC (250W). I have two optical drives, an IDE drive and a SATA drive.
So far no problems here.

First post.

Thought I would chime in as I purchased this card when this thread was back at 2 pages and have been watching ever since.

First installed on a 350 Antec psu and noticed a little slow down. Moved to a "True" 430 Antec and everything is running smooth as cream. At work right now so no benchmark info on hand but I'm running Source at 88 frames in the stress test on a 2500+ barton (no OC) with a gig of value 3200 with 2 opticals and 2 IDE HDs. My cooling solution is just some tried and true airflow. I downloaded riva tuner to check to make sure I had ll the pipes and such and so far my info matches everyone elses.

As I am a new player to the OC world were I to OC this card, how would I go about it? I've yet to jump into RT in any depth.

How old was your Antec 350 PSU, was it one of the newer versions?

Once I fixed my multicolored line issue, I've had no problems running off my 350watt supply. I've got two hard drives and optical drive, and a couple PCI cards. My card also drops in temp. when run at 350/1.1, but I had some issues with tearing so I'm not sure if I'll stay at that speed.

I'll be happy once my NV silencer arrives too, this thing is *loud* and my hard drives don't exactly like having all the heat from it blown right at them...they went up 5 degrees C.

Question on having to hacksaw the two-slot plate in order to install an Artic NV5 Silencer. Is it possible to remove the plate from the board? I see one screw underneath the board at the corner, but the only other "screws" are the fasteners that are to the left and right of both DVI ports. They appear to be screwed on can I was thinking if there is a tool in which to screw them off. If I can get the plate removed, then it makes the hacksaw job alot easier. Are there any well-hidden screws that cannot be reached?

I've heard of people getting single slot backplates from arctic cooling to solve the whole hacksawing problem. I've emailed them about having one sent to me, but haven't heard anything back yet. Apparently they will start to include with the NV 5 sometime next month so people don't have to mutilate their boards?

As for getting the fasteners off, you can either use a small wrentch or a small socket. They are a standard size so any hardware store should carry a socket that is small enough. I've got one in a craftsman kit I got from sears.

OK guys i just got mine and i tested:

stock speeds.
3dmark05: 4258

350/1100
3dmark05: 4514

360/1100
3dmark05: 4585

Sorry guys, thats all i got time for now. I will post more on Sunday night if you want me to. 🙂

Well, if mine is locking up at default speeds I'm not sure what the problem is. It's not overheating. 400 TruePower Antec might not be enough.

Any suggestions? I don't want to spend more money if I don't have to.

Since I went to a A 3200+ with a msi neo 2 plat. I can't overclock this card (well very little)? may have something to do with through-put or bandwidth? scores are just about the same as with the Intel. Read my earlier post on this thread. Gandolf

I know this thread is fast paced and exciting and all, but if anyone can offer help/advice on some questions on the last page, we'd appreciate it (I was one of them).

Got mine today, 16p open. Overclocks to about 350/1.1. My problem is that I get really bad 2d performance. Minimizing/Maximizing is quite a bit slower than it was on my 9800pro. Also, the thing is damn loud. If I'm going to keep it, I will have to get a different cooling solution.

ooops i almost forgot...
i also have 2d and 3d mode fan speeds too! 😀
(slows down in 2d mode)

ill offer this modified bios file as soon as im done with some basic testing.

So what kinda core speed are you gonna give us on the high-end in this modded bios? 350MHz maybe?
