Hey Thugs and Aonic, whats the VID on the ultra 400/1100 bios from the latest revision? Mine keeps showing up as 1.2 for some reason.
1.4v / 1.4v / 1.4v

there is no such thing as 1.2v for an Ultra.
options are 1.1v 1.3v 1.4v 1.5v (1.5v is actually 1.6v tho)

Killrose ~ im using the LE-GT14 bios

🙂

i just flashed and reflashed my card and ran some tests.. with the latest ultra bios 11/04/04 LE-Ultra 1.4v whatever thing, i got 4808 in 3dmark05, reflashed to rev.2 Le-GT1.4 Bios thingy and got 5130.. these were both at 400/1100. Clearly the GT bios does something better than the ultra.. its a wonder that most ultra owners dont flash to GT.. i guess the real world performance wouldnt add up to much.. maybe 1 or2 fps here and there.. nothing to worry about really.

hiya peeps,

quick question, on page 4 of this thread someone said what the Hardwired ID's relate to, (ie 0040 = Ultra, 0041= standard and so on)

didnt mention 0044......now i have a Dell 6800 GTO (doesnt stand for overclocked by manufacturer...lol) which shows 0044, am wondering if anyone else here has a GTO and could tell me if theres says that, but their Rivatuner needs to show NV40 on the main tab which mine does..i can unlock my pipes and overclock happily, but it seems people just buying the GTO very recently cannot unlock, i think they can overclock tho, theirs however says NV41 in the main RT tab.

(if you do or know someone who does have a GTO bought at least a month ago or older, it should unlock and overclock happily to 16/6, with 375/1000)

(if this was discussed earlier in this thread, please excuse me, waaaaay to many pages for my eyes to cope with atm....lol)

cheers.

Dual DVI capability with the Ultra bios.

Precisly. I need the dual DVI capabilities. I just run 425/1100 on the ultra bios, and im fine. Franky, when im playing HL2, another 10fps doesnt matter when I already average 100.

Hi all,

I was one of the ulucky ones that got a card from zzf with the 700Mhz memory. First I flashed the card with the 1.4v ultra bios, it set the memory to 700 as well. I was able to push it
to 420/1100 via powerstrip, the only problem I have is when I run need for speed underground. I get random pauses that last for about 5 seconds. If I clock the memory down below 850
the game runs without issue. I just now flashed the card with the bios evga sent me with the same results. I have the latest driver for my mobo, plus I just installed the latest 67.02 drivers
for my card. I tried re-installing the game several times and installed all updates, I also used the evga recommended bios settings listed on thier web site. I'm pretty sure that its the card that is causing this, as I was able to play with my previous card without problems. Oddly doom3 and any other game runs fine. Any help would be welcomed.

Thanks

MSI k8n neo
AMD 3000+ OC 3200+
1 GB kingmax DDR500
160GB samsung sata
420w enermax

Well, I am sick of this 6800 LE thing. GT with $50evga, doom3, farcry will be on its way soon! all for $25.
I think I am just gonna sell all of them to recover my lost costs.

Screw it, Im gonna RMA and ask for my money back. I just played need for speed hot pursuit2 and it does the exact same thing. Works fine when I drop the memory down.
I really dont want any EVGA products after this experiance, gonna stick with BFG.

I was having random freezes in 3dmarkxx and doom3 when OC'ing the card with the Rev2 1.4 Ultra bios. These occured mostly it seemed at loading screens. If I ran it at stock speeds (400/1100) I had no problems.

Since temps were never that high, my 12v rail was stable, there were no artifacts and the freezes seemed to be a throttling issue when overclocking, I decided to crank my 2d speed up to match my 3d settings (425/1150). After multiple runs of 3dmark01-05 and 2-3 hours of doom3 I haven't had a single problem. Temps in 2d are only up a couple of degrees.

After going through a multitude of performance 3d core/memory speed combinations & bios tweaking - fast writes on/off, system memory timings, Apeture size, yada yada yada - this seems to work for me. Maybe it will help someone else with problems.

let me know if it is successful. I want to get back my money too.
Now if there's a 15% restocking fee....nah, not worth it then.

I have a fairly simple question, what is throttling? Is that when it switched speeds between 2d and 3d modes? I have upped my 2d speeds now to match the 3d speeds and it is exactly the same idle temp as before. Thanks guys

supernac i think the problems in NFSU is game related it would do something like ur describing wit my evga 5600 Ultra card. its a lot like lag and it would be in certain parts of the game. i would update game first.

hey guys im posting to see if i can get some feedback off this,

I had previously posted that with the default LE bios I had no problems in games and I could oc pretty high (normal oc on the LE default bios)

I decided to flash to the rev. 3 LE-Ultra. After flash I could no longer oc with rivatuner or coolbits( no prob after powerstrip).

Also, now 2 current games im playing exhibit a 'snow effect' where there are black and white dots that come and go from different textures.

In NFSU2, it is only apparent in the menus. In CS: Source it is apparent on some boxes, and some floors/ceilings.

With the default LE bios, and after a slight oc to 350/1100, both games run fine. in fact both games NEVER experience this problem when the core is oc. after 390~ on the core I get the normal artifacts where textures flip and are in the wrong spots.

Another hangup for me is that I can run 3dmark05/03 all the way up to 465 with Powerstrip without it freezing up. 460 and under will pass fine and I havent seen any artifacts!

My only other game im playing is UT2004 which I can play fine even at 460 on the core(LE-Ultra bios).

It is clear that with the LE-ULTRA bios, I can oc much better. Yet what is up with nfsu2? cs:s?

Things I have tried:

Changing Forceware drivers (67.02, 66.81, 65.73)
Changing chipset drivers (moved from a mixed nf2 package to 4.xx)
reformat of computer
flashing to a mix of other released bios's released by thug/aionic
downclocking the core to 325

Im having problems with my LE again :| My system freezes every now and then. Im gonna try to format this weekend, and see if it fixes the problem. oh well..

Running Intel here. Im beginning to know why they're labled as Limited Edition. B'cuz a limited of them actually work.

i think throttling is where the core speeds and voltages are lower during 2d/idle conditions.. i could be wrong tho, and often am

This is the problem with much of this thread:

You've got a lot of people who for some reason thought these cards were $300 6800Us when they were never advertised or warranted as such.

Newsflash: Just because you wish they were and are too cheap to spend the extra $175 on a real Ultra, eVGA doesn't owe you anything, especially if you've flashed the bios and/or OCd.

For Christs sake, when are you guys going to stop buying Hyundais and pretending you're owed a Porsche?
