Exactly my point. Get em, sell em, and put em towards an Ultra.
I see, I get you know. Sell the games which sets you for around $70-100.

Yes, a good deal, but you cannot use your evga Credits on the step up program. Otherwise that would be nice, but it wouldnt work.
What's the eVGA credits use for then?

guys don't pay a single penny to eVGA.com, stay strong, hold you fate!
I will not settle paying extra nor refund. It's unacceptable.

The credits are for buying new products on the site. If i am wrong, please correct me, but i'm quite sure it said so in the details

Now I am lost...

1. RMA to ZZF
2. eVGA $25 to GT
3. Demand full refund from eVGA.

If you can get the deal someone else got of of a GT, Far Cry, Doom3, and $50 credit @ eVGA. Do that. Then, sell both games for $25 a pop. Gives you $50, $50 in credit, and a GT. Use that $100 to step your GT up to and utlra. $25 more for a true ultra is a daaaamn good deal.

well, i know you cannot use cards you recieved thru the trade in, but I dont see why you coudlnt use a card you got form them? Did you actually ask someone if you coudl take a GT then step it up to an ultra later?

egoadk - ya, thats what I meant. If you coudl do it, I was thinking $50 for both games, plus the $50 evga credit earns you $100, which is the cost to step up a GT to an ultra. You woudl still have to pay the $25 to get the GT, plus like $10 to ship it, but I woudl think tahts worth it for a true ultra. Just ask them, if you accepted the $25 for a GT deal, could you step it up to an Ultra a month from now?

I dont quite understand you, but this is what i read. You can use the step up program, that's fine. You can take a GT and go up to a Ultra, that's fine. However, the eVGA credits that you have earned/recieved cannot be used on the step up program, only to buy new cards. Like i said, i could be wrong, but i dont think so. Go and check it out.

id be weary of buying/getting another evga card.....

while their current offer is pretty nice ~ its not right.
you bought an Ultra with a neutered LE bios ~ and thats what you should get back. (for free)

thugsrook do you know if there is a updated boot disk with new ultra bios?

and what is the best overclocking le so far I have a 47xx on my serial number is that anygood

the latest (final version) LE-Ultra bios is dated 11-4-04. i dont expect there to ever be a new version of that bios since we arent working on Ultra files any more. (only working on beta GT and GTU files now)

i didnt pay too much attention as to which serial #s are good/bad. check the BE thread http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5056 and i think there are a few other threads on BE with LE6800 info (polls).

🙂

who has taken these cards apart, what kind of thermal paste do they use on the GPU and ram. i'm almost positive they use that funky netted thick paste(resembling wet tacky with netting) on the ram but what about the GPU, that odd gummy stuff or an actual paste?

i'm thinking i can get more than 470 out of the core, esp if i put 1.5volts through the core. maybe 485 or above, 500 would be silly 😀

> silver paste on the core
> garbage 'i have no idea what' on the ram and power mosfets ~ it has the texture of a paper napkin

i used arctic ceramic on everything, including the mosfets.

🙂

I remember you complaining of getting a poor performer, did you gain much with the thermal up-grades?

MOF, yes they helped very much.
i can now run 425x1150 very comfortably w/o any problems.

my max stable now is 430x1160, before copper cooler and asc it was 420x1100.
not the greatest card but im very happy with it 🙂

my temps are down by about 10*C, using only 50% fan speed too.

wow, 10C temp drop even when they used silver paste? still not sure i'd care to loose my warranty over an extra 10-15mhz.

the MOSFETs are under that narrow little black heatsink at the end of the PCB,right?

IMHO: they used too much silver paste.

it even comes on the new copper cooler too.
i used the new silver to polish the new copper heatsink to a mirror finish before wiping it clean and installing it. works very well as a rubbing compound! ~ lol

🙂

Is that with the GT bios? would the Ultra maybe go higher because of relaxed ram/core timmings?

Anyone from this forum?? It's even flashed to Ultra Bios. LOL, Keep an eye on this before you RMA. It might be worth while just to sell them on Ebay!!!!!!

You've got to be kidding me. It's at 335 with 5 days left?! :Q I hope my problems have something to do with cooling rather than hardware. My silencer should be coming in the next couple days, I hope it fixes my issues.

It's interesting that your stable memory timings are 1160. That is exactly the same number that I am stable at. I can go higher, but 1160 seems fine. Also, 430 is also a good number. I have not been able to get mine over 436 with any program. I used expertool and moved it to 440 and started HL2. As soon as the game started, my system froze up immediately. (not even during intense video action. I basically forze up one it switched to 3d mode) I have never had any artifacting or tearing on this card whatsoever. (Except with the Bios it came with). Right now I am perfectly content with Thug's Ultra Bios running at 400/1100. I had a lot of fun trying to score higher on all of the benchmark software by adjusting the Bioses and whatnot, but as far as gameplay is concerned, whether it's 400/1100 or 430/1160 it makes virtually no difference at all. I hope that you all have better luck with your future cards!!!!!! And most importantly, have fun!

Hey Thugs and Aonic, whats the VID on the ultra 400/1100 bios from the latest revision? Mine keeps showing up as 1.2 for some reason.
