LMAO, I like how US is placed on top of the list even though they have only ONE metal. Too bad China's not competing this year, they would just win everything.

Hong Kong (city in China) with 33 medals.

The fact that you thought you had to clarify Hong Kong is a glaring statement about the intelligence in our country.

Not necessarily, it is a bit of a confusing situation. Technically speaking, HK and Macao are both part of the PRC so they should not have a team there.

Not really. I wouldn't consider HK to be representative of China, so if anything it's a rather large reach.

Hong Kong is China on the performance enhancing drug that is western capitalist influence.

Teaching Math In the 1960?s:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price, or $80. What is his profit?

Teaching Math In the 1970?s:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he make a profit?

Teaching Math In the 1980?s:

A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math In the 1990?s:

A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers.)

Teaching Math in 2006:

Un ranchero vende una carretera de madera para $100. El cuesto de la produccion era $80. ¿Cuantos tortillas se puede comprar?

Fixed.

Also, medals are made out of metal, Baked.

Really? Medals have to be made with metals and cannot be made of wood or stone? Just curious since I have never heard of that requirement before.

The public school system in the US is an absolute joke /end thread

There was nothing wrong with it when I went through it.

nor I

but nowadays a teacher gives 0's for a major research paper for most of the class when they plagiarized it. The parents QQ'd to the school board who told the teacher to give them a do over because these high schoolers didn't know what plagiarism was. The teach says no way and the board says to do it or get fired.

How bout we dumb down the SAT's because they are too hard

How about we inflate the GPA by giving extra points so that an A+ is a 5.0 and all AP courses get an extra 8 points?

We went to school in an era when cheating was wrong, a 4.0 was the highest and the tests weren't dumbed down for us.

But see even in your example the school/teachers still works, its the parents (and those they vote for) that are the problem.

I asked my neices if they were getting A's in school. They looked at me weird and said something like no I am getting H's or some weird letter number combo. They do that so they don't get their feelings hurt.

I was pointing out the difference between the two words for Baked. If you want to be anal and pick apart my words though, I never said medals are made exclusively out of metal. 😉

No, I was not nitpicking, was just wondering if the word medal implied "made with metal".
If so it would have been something new for me. But I guess it was never meant to be.

Nitpicker! My fingers have a mind of their own.

Guess what-- We aren't really the best country in the world despite what politicians keep shoving down our throats.

Edit: Unless your metric is power

This attitude is the reason the rest of the world hates us.

The rest of the world caused us to create the military we have, so blame them.

Student:
maybe they should like talk to the squrrills maybe...and like...whatever...then they could like build homes for them and like make it into a forest thingy...where they do cut it down...you know...and like squrrils are fuzzy so we shouldnt hurt their land...like...yeah

Teacher:
100%...that was a really good way to end this confict between man and nature in this area, although you did lack some sort of protest against the logger, but that is counteracted by the bonus marks your parents are making me give you...Good Job!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't win metals just like you don't win woods or stones. I hate people who argue over semantics incorrectly.

edit:
Ironically, the top Universities in the world are in the US.
We Americans get smarter when we're older, where it counts. Damn straight.

Dude, I was not being sarcastic. I was asking in earnest if medal's definition included "made of metal". I didn't think it so but I could have been wrong that is why I asked.
