The new Ford's look better than them all.

How can they have a truck comparison and no Ford?

i was wondering the same thing, but i only skimmed and other than the silverado i only saw mention of the titan.

i guess the f 150 is irrelevant:confused:

Did you read the article? The winner of the last comparison test was pitted against the two newcomers. The F-150 lost in the last Edmunds test (where the Titan won) and hasn't been significantly updated since that time.

So why pit it against new vehicles when it would come in last place?

No wimpy V6 or small V8 engines and don't put a Lexus interior into the thing. Make it big, stick a big motor in it, and keep it low tech to keep the cost down.

People who buy trucks to use as work trucks beat the snot out of them, so yeah, pretty much

Although, a 1/2 ton is weak once you start doing some serious work

Yeah, that's for sure. I beat the snot out of my V8 Dakota... which is also a half ton truck (I own a 1994). It'll haul 1400 lbs though pretty well. But if I ever move to a full size, I'm getting a 3/4.

oh, i dunno, maybe editor turnover would result in a different result. or maybe they could actually get some people who know and use trucks to test, rather than a bunch of southern californians who wouldn't know what to do with a truck if their life depended on it.

honestly, their emphasis of track performance for trucks is remarkably ridiculous.

I'm curious why they didn't include the Ford or Dodge half ton trucks in this comparo...

Still, I think the outcome would be the same.

You know what's really ridiculous? That statement right there. Yeah, California...the 6th largest economy in the world. I'm sure there's nobody here who uses a truck for work...

OMG i insulted california and so now all the california peoples are going to come and bash me with how great their state is!

my statement applies to the editors of edmunds, who are clearly car people who dabble in off-roading, rather than construction crews, landscaping crews, ranch hands, or any of the californians who might be able to tell you a thing or two about what a truck should be. i notice that you didn't try to refute that, you only see california and something negative so you assume i'm attacking everyone.

and honestly, it's clueless southern californians trying to figure out what would appeal to people in texas and oklahoma that gave us such pieces of fugliness as the nissan titan and the new tundra.

Okay okay, calm the hell down. I'm not defending Edmunds editors. Hell you are probably right about them. Your post just came off as bashing CA...as people here seem to love to do. And don't try to sit there and tell me that you weren't being derogatory against Southern Californians with your comments. Still, I will withdraw the dumbest post statement I made earlier.

BTW-There are plenty of hard working construction crews, landscaping crews and ranch hands in California who know a thing or two about what a truck should be. Just an FYI. ;)

Toyota did an excellent job designing this truck. It may be ugly as sin, but you can't argue with it's performance numbers and it's price range. If anything this will only help make American trucks even better. Everybody wins.

Overall, we came away impressed. There isn't a stinker in the lot, nor did any one truck give an across-the-board beating to the other two. On the contrary, this is one of the closest comparison tests we've done, with only the thinnest of margins separating 1st and 2nd places

If that isn't total pwnage, then I just don't know what is.

Wow, I didn't realize edmunds took payouts from Toyota. I like how they didn't put in the F150 into the mix. It probably topped out Toyota but the editors took it out to make Toyota happy.

A V8+ pickup with HD capabilities, priced comparably to a much less capable light/medium duty truck from GM, Ford or Dodge is one of the only ways I can see any asian competitor breaking significantly into that market.

This thread and the article are misnamed.

It isn't a comparison test if you leave out the Ford, and I would say the Dodge too.

But leaving out the Ford makes it useless as a "comparison".

Do I have to say it again? In the last comparison test, the Titan beat the F-150 and the Dodge RAM. And neither have had any significant powertrain or structural changes that would change the outcome of the test. Edmunds invited back the winner of the old test to compete against the two new entries.

If two teams get beat in the Sweet Sixteen, how are they going to make it to the Elite Eight or Final Four?

In the end, it comes down to consolidating their testing.
