Got played. They rushed to distance themselves from this woman when Faux and the Wingnut Bloggers showed a partial clip taken out of context and now when it's obvious that it was taken out of context and there was no evil intent of racism on this woman's part they're looking weak and foolish and the perpetrators of this bullshit, Faux and the Winger Bloggers are spinning it in their favor without any worry of suffering any consequences of their deceitful reporting.

Win Wingnuts, Fail Libs.

I love how the right wing media intentionally deceived people and it's the people's fault they actually believed it.

I don't see how the "right wing media" plays into this.

The 'timeline' of events is publicized and well known.

Fox News etc didn't report on it until well after she had been fired. Breitbart's video included the exculpatory portions of her speech. Therefore, how would he be to blame?

This case has nothing to do with the media, right or left. I think this better illustrates the lack of professionalism and poor methodology in Washington these days. We pass huge bills no one reads (hell, no one's allowed to); there's a dramatic lack of any 'due dilligence' and this example is a powerful demonstration of that. The WH reacted before even a cursory investigation (WH officials have said Obama was briefed Monday night after the firing and agreed), the NAACP has the full unedited tape of their own meeting where she gave these remarks and obviously failed to bother to look at it before condeming her, again Breitbart's posted vid showed the exculpatory portion of her remarks and obviously no one bother to look at it before acting.

Is blaming the media, right or left, a diversion?

It seems pretty clear that the countercultureconservative.com article is mischaracterizing the speech in the same way as Brett Hart. She told the story to explain how she discriminated against the farmer because her father was killed by a white man, then when he got ripped off by a white lawyer realized it was all about rich vs poor not white vs black. Then she helped the farmer save his farm and his wife now calls her a friend of rlife.

That's a completely anti-racism message, end of story.

Looks like a bunch of leftist blaming Breitbart, and Fox still when Breitbart posted the full video (at least concerning her statements in this controversy) and Fox didn't even report on, or show the video till after she was fired.
Her being fired falls on the USDA and maybe the Obama Admin's shoulders, the faux outrage over her comments from the Wingers here and across the nation is the fault of Fox and Breitbart. Don't take her comments out of context to push your agenda. Of course that's their standard MO.

So why did the OP and the rest of this thread, until the whole video came out, attack her?

You have to be fucking kidding me. This was an outright hatchet job on the part of Breitbart. No shit this administration would take swift action when you have an official being racist on camera. Turns out it was too swift because it was an intentional misrepresentation on the part of the "journalist." You really want the takehome on all this to be you can't trust the conservative media? Because that's what you guys blame shifting and defending this are arguing is the moral of the story.

For the same reason as the NAACP, USDA and WH?

Fern

I can fully understand the USDA's position. they have bad history with dicrimination and have a ZERO tolerance for it. they see the edited video and have to do something.

though it don't help the WH was calling them telling them to fire her.

though IF its true that the WH did call and tell them to fire her it don't look good. Maybe its time for another Beer summit?

They were duped by Faux and Breitbart. The difference is many of the wingers refuse to acknowledged that they were duped and still stick to their fake outrage.

False.

"The Agriculture Department announced Monday, shortly after FoxNews.com published its initial report on the video, that Sherrod had resigned."

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...fficial-admitting-withheld-help-white-farmer/

In Fox News' first on-air mention of Sherrod, Bill O'Reilly aired a portion of the Breitbart-pushed clip, then called her comments "simply unacceptable" and said Sherrod "must resign immediately."

Later that evening, subbing for Greta Van Susteran on On the Record, Dana Perino said Sherrod had been "caught on tape making racially charged comments to an NAACP audience," and said the video "adds fuel to a growing controversy after the NAACP approved a resolution condemning the tea party movement for not denouncing racist members."

The next day on Fox & Friends, Steve Doocy said Sherrod had been caught "making a speech to the NAACP that sure sounded racist." Then Alisyn Camerota accused her of "touting this in this anecdote as though this is, you know, a feather in her cap, somehow, for her to be congratulated." Then Camerota and Doocyagreed that the comments were "Exhibit A" as far as "what racism looks like."

Breitbart wasn't even going after the woman; his point was directed at the NAACP in response to their 'campaign' that teh TEA party group has many racists.

Whether or not Breitbart portrayed the NAACP in that clip accurately, his clip did include the woman's exculpatory remarks. So, blaming him for the 'rush to judgement' on behalf of so many is fail.

You really want the takehome on all this to be you can't trust the conservative media? Because that's what you guys blame shifting and defending this are arguing is the moral of the story.

I don't understand what you're trying to say here.

My point is that the MSM wasn't involved until AFTER the woman was fired; so blaming them is a diversion. The NAACP's 'excuse' is particularly lame. (They claim to have been "snookered by Fox news".) For heaven's sake, they have the full video in their possession.

I understand that Gibbs will make a statement about this today, am curious about what he will say.

Quite the lulz situation. Not sure what's funnier though, the COA going on with the admin or the resident hacks again coming out and exposing themselves.

Sorry, but I've watched the whole 43 min video and she seems like a very nice lady, BUT she appears to be pushing a black agenda and that's not right for a federal employee in charge of a state program. I wouldn't want her in charge of my state's rural development program.

Everyone will be scrambling to play CYA and point the finger.

Would the head of the USDA initiated a firing on their own for such a public issue.
Initial reports were that pressure came from on high.

Someone will have to be the sacrifical lamb - how high up and at what price

within 2 days a higher up of USDA will be "retiring" no way this gets near the white house. or she will be back with a huge pay raise and promotion (but she does not seem like that kind of women)
