Thats a horrible score. Perhaps the card really IS running at 115/115, otherwise I'm staying far far away from this card.

yeah? and what exactly were you expecting?

I think he's angry today for some reason...

Anyway... from previous scores from 9800's in the 6000's... the x800 Pro being in the high 8000's... I'd say that's a pretty good increase... although not for $400+ IMHO. But that's the price you pay for brand spankin new technology I guess :D

Oh hey... if you have MS Flight 2004 could you check the FPS in that? Doesn't have to be extremely precise... just set all the sliders to max and use 4XAA and 8XAF and use one of the preset weather settings... take off from a major airport that's near a major city fly around a bit making sure you get lots of things in view and record the frame rates using FRAPS.

If you don't have FS2004, just ingore that, lol.

no, it doesn't. all it's saying is that it's the preferred card for HL2. No voucher. This is the case for the 9600 cards at BB too, because I bought one last week for a rig i was building for someone else, and it didn't have a voucher :(

Hey, if you have some time, maybe you could benchmark one of the following games:

- Morrowind
- KOTOR
- Hitman Contracts with the infamous "post-processing filter" enabled.

All details maxed out, with full AA en AF, in some regular representable ingame scene (with FRAPS) please.

I think real ingame benchmarks say so much more than synthetic benchmarks (in which they cheat anyway btw)

well at a certain point the ROI on dated benches is goign to become less and less. At a certain point, the only thing that matter is clock speed if you're using a dated benchmark. That being said, why not put your card down to stock settings, and see what the difference is between 2001 and 2003 versus the x800? Don't forget...I haven't even tried to oc yet...

yes, as does the 9600SE and 9600XT at bestbuy/ The box says "Halflife2 preferred graphics". It does NOT say HL 2 voucher included.... Kind of like every game that says "Nvidia, the way it's meant to be played". Do you get pissed when a GF 5950XT isn't included with your copy of Worms2???

ok, just ran a complete stock install on 3dmark. looks like I'm only the #2 :) Looks like a bug because it's showing that my core/mem is 115/115. Also, and this might have just been a glitch, but when I tried installing the 4.4's I had previously downloaded from ati.com, i kept on getting a "hardware not found" error message. ended up using the supplied disk for drivers. Not bad score, but definitely and untweaked one. Just wanted to give you guys my "out of the box" experience. More to come...

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2501115

I think the X800 series only uses beta drivers? which are the ones on the supplied disk I would guess. Also because it is a new GPU I would guess that many ID apps would not recognise it or it's core speed properly.

actually the one's included are 4.4's, but for some reason the ones online didn't work..hmmm. No biggie, just kind of weird.

Conscript I for one appreciate you taking your time to inform us with the news of your new card and also posting some of your findings.

I am pretty sure that I will be getting mine tomorrow (X800) so what would you suggest that I DL to check out some scores ? also I am running an ATI 9700pro should I uninstall the drivers which I am using or leave them in and just plug my 800 in ?

Thanks, CA

I thing its a good idea to reinstall them. You don't need to use driver cleaner though, AFAIK.

If you could supply a bench on farcry with some modest details and AF/AA enabled, I would very much appreciate it, Conscript, and I'm sure some others will too :)
Thanks for taking the time to share with us!
