Inexperienced shooter using a shotgun firing from 40+ feet away hanging out of the window of a moving hybrid going 30+ mph over rough terrain = Headshot! Headshot! Headshot!

With all the bitching on the internet about how they've been on the farm too long, not enough zombies, etc, how well do you think them always missing zombies and just running away would go over?

The last episode of season 2 got blockbuster ratings. Highest ever audience for original drama on basic cable. Not bad for a series on zombies.

Typical woman logic.

A lot of that anger [she's expressing] could be directed at herself. I think she feels partially responsible for sending these two men on a path. That’s the moment where she found out that Shane was dead. And not only did she find out that Shane was dead, but her husband totally killed the guy! This was a family friend. This was a guy that used to come over on weekends and watch football in the house and things like that. It was a really emotional moment that is going to drive her a little batty. Having to handle those emotions and looking at the guy that kind of caused the situation, she’s not going to be considering, “Oh, yeah. I did this. I should calm down.” She has these emotions and she doesn’t know what to do with them.

I honestly felt like everyone was acting so incredibly in-character and exactly how I would expect given the situation that it was a little off-putting...

There's this expectation of extreme rationality on the part of everyone, with the rare 'break down' that leads right back into rationality: it's a TV trope and it's what I expect.

When people act like... well people, it just doesn't make any TV sense to me and it breaks the suspension of disbelief.

Shouldn't the zombies start dying though? Given food is pretty much all gone and their bodies are probably falling apart by the minute.

Given that everyone is infected and turns when they die and how dangerous the world is in the TWD universe I think there would always be a steady supply of fresh zombies even if they only had a shelf life of a few months. In fact given the everyone turns when they die rule it would be pretty much impossible to get things under control.

Go back a few pages. People were pissy about there "suddenly a bunch of zombies are near"

They were ninja stealth zombies.

You know, if I was in an apocalyptic disease-ridden warzone, I would make sure I bundled everyone into an open farm and not let anyone out on things like PATROLS or anything, especially not with horses or some shit like that.

With these zombies moving at 1, maybe 2 MPH, you just do not have enough TIME to know when they are coming!!!

And they are so silent!

Maybe he reloaded while we were looking elsewhere? 😉

MM, I know you are just speculating, but I was counting the shots.

They were coming regularly, no real pause, and I only saw him reach in his pocket once.

The time it took him to simply reach in and pull out the shell, nevermind load it, was more than the gap between shots. Also, your point about the car... Man, simply taking a PICTURE out a moving car is difficult, nevermind using a long barreled firearm!

I also think they are using slugs. The headshots were too precise. I saw no spray/splatter at range (I think it was because they used the same CGI effect on all the shots. I would have to pause and run it slow to see).

As for the prison? If budget was a problem before (and the reason that things changed from S1->S2) I think you (whoever said it) are right about using a few closed sets and an exterior CGI. It could also be done at a doctored up school or warehouse for some of the external shots, both of which are available....

Just be aware that the compendium is a pretty big "book." It weighs about five pounds, and is around two inches thick. While that isn't exactly going to make you strain yourself to pick it up (if it does, you have other problems 😛), it may get uncomfortable after awhile.

I own it, and just the thought of reading it makes me cringe a bit. I'm so used to smaller mangas or single issue comics.

I was looking for the compendium.

If you want home reading, it is probably best, but you can always get the mobile version for train-reading.

For this most recent episode

1. What is up with the helicopter?
2. What is the thing towards the end of the episode with the chains and what appeared to be two zombies chained to it (grim reeper)?????
3. At the very end of the episode the camera panned to what appeared was some sort of compound on a hilltop, couldn't see it.

If you don't mind spoilers(from the comic):

1) It crashes and eventually leads them to "The Governer" and his messed up town. The 2 ppl inside it get killed by the governor.
2) That's a female character that joins them, she uses a sword as her weapon and had those 2 walkers chained with her to ward off other ones with their smell.
3) That's where they end up, a prison as their new home after they leave the farm.

Steppin, just read about 1 or 2 pages back and you will get it... Or just look up "Walking Dead Synopsis" on Google and all your questions will be answered.

Otherwise, your question kinda reads like the ones they get on the Myth Busters "official" BBS, where 37 people ask the same question w/o looking two posts down on the thread/board to see the answer right in front of them.....

I suppose, unless you have read the comics (i.e. you are looking for a spoiler), the answer is "We don't know".

I suppose, unless you have read the comics (i.e. you are looking for a spoiler), the answer is "We don't know", though it does look like a large institution like a hospital or prison.

That being said, the last two episodes ended with pan shots into the dark. I do not watch the show in a darkened theatre on a huge screen. So, it is a little annoying to me as I keep having to go back and pause just to see WTF I am suppose to be seeing.

But, since I am just a whiny bitch, this must only be a problem for me, right?

The comic book fans know more than the show fans, but I can still answer #'s 2 & 3...

2) not a thing, a woman - Michonne. Any more than that you can google at your own risk.

3) The Prison. It will figure prominently in most? all? of season 2.

If you watch Talking Dead, they've answered all 3 of those questions, though they were cryptic re: the helicopter.

he has a tiny wizard inside his gun reloading and aiming his bullets 😉

Were you counting the reloads we did not see? 😉

The time it took him to simply reach in and pull out the shell, nevermind load it, was more than the gap between shots.

That also assumes that the scene was shown entirely chronologically. We could have been seeing a number of things that were happening at the same time, thus he could have had more time to reload than we experienced watching the show.

Of course, we are both speculating.

QFT

Why don't you buy a better TV and not watch the show with every light in the house on, or are you scared of the dark?

I actually have a lovely HD TV in my home office. I work while I watch the show, so the lights have to be on.

But thanks for playing.
