What I was wondering as I watched the episode was how exactly do they get the zombies in the barn? Here they are leading two of them, hissing and scratching, by the neck on somewhat flimsy poles meant for dogs. Ok, I'll go with that. But once they get to the barn, now what?

Open the front doors? And what about the dozen or so already in the barn? Doubt they're climbing up the side of the barn while dragging a 150lb zombie behind them.

Someone goes up to the hayloft and lures all the zombies to the back of the barn. Open the doors and shove them in. That's how they did it in the comics, or at least it's meant to go that way. The comic's conclusion to the farm is putting them in the barn goes wrong, and two of Hershel's children get killed by zombies. Then Rick's crew has to kill all the zombies.

I have been saying mostly negative things about this season on this thread again and again.

But this episode was pretty damn good. The ending made up for it. I loved the cinematography. It felt like an epic scene of a movie. It had tension, anxiety, coup de tat, pity, and despair... all captured in one scene.

I had speculated Sophia would return as a zombie and come back from the woods, but I LOVED how she came out as the last zombie in the barn after the first shooting's dust settled, drawing it out for an epic sequence.

Well done.

Very well done.

i agree. very well done episode and the end scene actually drew emotions as well. usually when that happens to me it is a really well done scene.

and i also agree with the way shane is acting. finally one episode he was actually being reasonable. when rick went to "capture" the walkers i was like wtf... you gotta be kidding me.

I don't like Shane-types. While I may not fully disagree with Shane, I can't stand hot-headed meatheads like him.

In an apocalypse, those types are the red flags.

i dunno i don't tihnk he's a total hot head. he just realizes that they can't just sit around in this isolated farm. resources and shit are going to run out, and he wants to move and see what is happening out there. can't blame a guy for that.

and then now that there are walkers next to where they sleep ... f that.

That final scene of the last episode was incredible. They actually "humanitized" the zombies to a very high degree. Will be interesting to see how Hershel reacts to what happened in coming episodes. Was he so shocked he couldn't react much to stop the shooting or did he finally realize that the walkers in the barn had to be put down? And lol at the Portal reference Glenn made.

It explained the languid pace at which the previous episodes were running.

Sure, and much of that slower pace was due to delving deeper into each character as the aftershow alluded too, since this season is double the episodes or something like that.

I guess I enjoyed the episode, but I hope this half season is not a sign of things to come - trying to stretch limited source material (2 issues?) into half a season in order to cut the production budget, but that seems to be exactly what's going on.

Then, you get the last 15 minutes of last night's episode and it really stands out in stark contrast to the rest of the boring ass meandering season. The last 15 minutes was similar to most of the dramatic tension of the first season.

I hope the 2nd half is more compact with a better payoff for each episode, but it's already in the can from what i understand, so I expect more of the same.

Such a pity. If AMC had kept the budget and the head of the show onboard, this show could have been incredible. As it is, I find myself fastforwarding over big chunks of pointless scenes that do nothing to advance the story and have absolutely no punch of dramatic tension to them. I think an assisted living center on the weekends is about as exciting as most of this season was.

I had talking dead on after this last episode and they mentioned they shot two different scenes of the
Sophia ending, one had her coming out as it was shown and the other had her coming out without the Zombie makeup on.

The deal with the other shot is that she was going to come out and look normal to the group until the camera panned around behind her and you'd see the blood and a big bite on her neck/back area. Their thought was that the group in their minds thought she was always alive, and would see her like that briefly, then they'd realize what happened.

I thought that scene might have been pretty intense if they would have shown it.

That's why I stopped watching after the second episode of trying to find the stupid lost girl. Too much damn fluff in this show. The first season was MUCH better than the first. This season is too damn slow and crap thrown in to make a full episode.

Did anyone notice how Sophia's eyes were completely milky white when she came out of the barn, but right before Rick shot her they changed to resemble a normal human eye, with an iris and pupil? What was that all about...

Some of you faggoty fat bastards outta learn how to use spoiler tags. Shit... I understand that this is a thread for the series, but that doesn't mean I want to come in here and spoil shit for other people.

Look at this guy. Just look at him. Sheer retardation at its finest. Way to go, ya rat bastard!

Sorry man but it's been over 24 hours since the show aired so stay out of the thread next time as the girl being a zombie was mentioned multiple times but not sure how that matters unless the eye thing means something in the comic book.

Otherwise it's your own fault and spoiler tags are buggy for some devices or they just are annoying to use / read so many refuse to use them.

Get off your high horse buddy, it was mentioned by post 956 that she came out of the barn. And that was posted the same night the episode aired.

If it were my intention to spoil it for people, I'd have posted a freaking synopsis here. How about watching the episode before coming into a thread that discusses the show? Unless your sense of self control is nonexistent... which it appears to be.
