Wondering if it's going to go "Saw" on us. Remember the part where they said the hacksaw would not work on the grate in the sewer? Can't imagine the saw could not cut through the handcuff chain tho...

true, I'd think the rebard for the grate in the sewer would not be any harder to saw through than the handcuffs

Edit: Shows how much I know about rebar:

... So, word of advice - do not use a hacksaw blade to cut rebar because it just shreds the teeth to nothing. It was literally smooth where the teeth used to be - with no sign of teeth even existing!

I bet he will use it to cut through the pipe the handcuffs are attached to rather than the handcuffs themselves.

Also the rain part was announced pretty quickly so there was no doubt where that plot line was going.

The second episode was much better than the first but it's still not grabbing me at all. I'm really only watching it cus it has zombies in it. Definitely something I don't need to watch at all. Also Atlanta doesn't look like there's been a huge zombie invasion at all. Hopefully it really picks up for me.

Started reading the comics. Apparently the gut smearing was in the comic too, complete with the rain screwing up the plan. The show is not following the comic book verbatim, seems like they are jumping around with the plot on the show.

AMC announced today the renewal of The Walking Dead for a 13-episode second season. Since debuting Sun., Oct. 31, The Walking Dead has broken ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18 to 49 than any other show in the history of cable television.

Today's announcement also includes Fox International Channels' (FIC) global renewal for a second season, following record-breaking premiere ratings in 120 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. The Walking Dead was the highest-rated original series premiere ever to air on FIC simultaneously worldwide.

"The Dead has spread!" said Charlie Collier, President, AMC. "No other cable series has ever attracted as many Adults 18-49 as The Walking Dead. This reaffirms viewers' hunger for premium television on basic cable. We are so proud to be bringing back The Dead again, across the globe."

Ratings Highlights for The Walking Dead - Episode 2, which premiered on AMC Sunday, 11/7:

• 10pm airing - 3.1 HH rating with over 4.7 million viewers;
• Adults 18-49 - 3.3 million viewers;
• Adults 25-54 - 2.8 million viewers;
• Men 18-49 - 2.1 million viewers.

Ratings Highlights for the The Walking Dead - Episode 1, which premiered on AMC Sunday, 10/31:

• 10pm airing - 3.7 HH rating with over 5.3 million total viewers;
• Adults 18-49 - 3.6 million viewers;
• Adults 25-54 - 3.1 million viewers;
• Men 18-49 - 2.0 million viewers;

"I wish all programming decisions were no brainers like this one," said Sharon Tal Yguado, SVP Scripted Programming for Fox International Channels. "The Walking Dead is a TV masterpiece on so many levels. We want at least 10 seasons, if not more. Kudos to AMC!"

AMC's The Walking Dead is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. Executive Produced by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption) and Gale Anne Hurd (The Terminator), it tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. The series follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home.

Shot on location in Atlanta, The Walking Dead is led by a cast that includes Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually) as Rick Grimes, Jon Bernthal (The Pacific) as Shane Walsh, Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) as Lori Grimes, Laurie Holden (The Shield, Stephen King's The Mist) as Andrea, Jeffrey DeMunn (Stephen King's The Mist, The Green Mile) as Dale, Steven Yeun (The Big Bang Theory) as Glenn, Emma Bell (The Bedford Diaries) as Amy and Chandler Riggs (Get Low) as Carl Grimes.

only the 1st episode is on hulu and hulu says AMC isn't putting the rest on there.
makes sense... put the pilot out there to be easily accessible and get them to tune in/set their dvr's to watch the rest once they're hooked.

I like the show but they need some new writers because the current ones are making the people seem stupid.
The last episode has a scene where zombies are pounding on the doors of a department store. Do they try to block the front doors with all the counters, shelves and everything else ? nope.

I just can't stand stupidity like this. You are in a city with hundreds of buildings, sky scrapers and more. All that could be made into fortresses, and you pick a department store with glass windows to be your safe house in the city and then you decide to inhabit the ground floor ? The kid is driving around zombies with the windows rolled down ? In the pilot they go to the jail to get weapons , the jail has hot water, good defenses and supplies, yet they go back to a wood frame house surrounded by zombies to be safe ? Hope the zombies eat them all.

Yeah I watched the 1st and 2nd episode. I like the whole zombie feel but the characters are either dumb as Modelworks pointed out or they just don't seem real enough. Like that chick who held a gun up to the cop's head in EP2 was all sorts of bad acting.

Also the cop's wife is a slut.

If AMC won't show it via their website then it gets torrented...sorry for them. I wouldn't mind the website + commercials but if they give a guy no options other than getting a TV and service, then that's what happens.

oh, and did anyone else notice that this is probably the first time a prime-time show has allowed the word "n*gger?"

I'm talking outside of special permission, shows like Roots, or premium network shows that are not beholden to censors (HBO, Showtime, etc)

false.

they used it a bunch in The Shield.

I would think a going into a skyscraper would be a death trap. You don't know how many zombies are in there. The only way up are the stairs and with no electricity it'll be pitch dark in the stairways.

I love the show and I like the dude who is a racist. He has always played a bad guy and been good at it. But when he called that woman a rug muncher, I was cracking up. I think the next episode should be a gem.
