Pretty much every time I fly, I fly out of BWI, and I have Global Entry and my wife does not. Typically I'm only through there in like 5 minutes max, faster than she is. The really only benefit is not having to take all my electronics out of my backpack. You aren't really saving much time using GE though, at least not at BWI.

BWI is the least of my concerns wrg to security. SFO, however.....

But still, I imagine all of it being delayed in most airports above their own norms.

It should be noted that GE and TSA Precheck are two different programs. The advantage from Precheck is usually kind of limited but I've bypassed a few major security waits in my time. If you do GE you get automatic TSA Pre though.

Global Entry itself however is fucking gold. No wait at all when coming back into the US. I got back from Mexico into ORD on Sunday and there appeared to be (at least) hundreds of people in line for the regular controls. So many they overflowed the holding area and spilled down the hallways back towards the gates. CBP looked short staffed. I was probably home before any of the non GE people on our flight even got to their baggage.
Damnit you just made me realize I meant to put TSA Precheck not GE. But when leaving, the TSA Pre is all that matters.

If memory serves SFO uses private security contractors, not TSA.

I will say this. You want the shutdown to end fast, impact air travel. This won't last much longer. The GOP will be shitting themselves.

But they should be able to get the loan at a low interest rate, right? Because, you know, the loan is "government backed". WTF

I think he just has no idea how it is not being super wealthy. He always expects future income to be able to pay it off. He just cannot fathom that people are already leveraged and a loan that they would have to pay back would be more than their future income. They have no savings, no margin to take on more expense.

So we've got the potential shutdown of American aviation, a coup in Venezuela, and Roger Stone indicted...

Anything else going on today?

Nintendo restarted development of Metroid Prime 4 for the Switch.

I think that was supposed to be important news, but who knows anymore?

Manafort was told how screwed he was in court before his sentencing, likely an effective life sentence.

Who knew this possibly happen? No one could see this coming. Its really unprecedented and people are saying that it couldn't possibly have been foreseen. No one knew that government workers did so many things that helped the country run smoothly. Its just amazing.

It's not the lobbyists and the crooks, it's the ordinary workers who are the swamp to Trump.

Also, if he even hints at the possibility of ending the shutdown without full wall funding, be prepared for him to walk it back in 4 hours after Rush and Ann call him.

Teterboro doesn't seem to be affected...yet. Close that down and the government shutdown will be over in 20 minutes after half the country's wealthy call to scream at the Senate GOP.
Yeah, they are probably increasing spacing on the busiet patterns to reduce workload. What they should do is start shutting down the small private airports and move the staff to the big ones. Sucks for the 50 people that can't fly out on their private jet, but better for 100,000 people going through the major airport down the road.
