If people could read, you'd see that I have the money but don't want to buy it at the store b/c of outrageous taxes and dont have a credit or debit card to purchase online. Plus, I don't want to go behind my dads back and buy something that he didn't give me permission too. that would be disrespectful.

That website was made by a Mac fan, so keep that in mind. While he does try to make it look somewhat objective, we already know that he's currently a Mac user, so his viewpoint will obviously be skewed. The test was stacked from the beginning.

If you do a search for "Dan Pouliot" on Google, you'll see his name mentioned on many Mac sites.

You don't get what you pay for. If you don't do your research and make an informed buying decision, you might end up paying a lot of money for a piece of crap. On the other hand, if you're a smart shopper, you can get a better product for less money.

Christ, you could have gotten SO MUCH PC for less than that! You are such a typical Mac hype swallower, I'd be embarrassed to death if I were your dad!

Have you ever even used a Mac?? You sound like a Windows hype swallower.

I've used a Mac. I just can't get into them. No offense to people, but the interface seems a bit "fruity" or "metrosexual" to me. I just don't like it. Too artsy and flamboyant.

How am I suppose to buy a $2100 laptop?? It's not that I don't have the money, its that I have no way to buy it (ex. credit card).

go to an apple store

I would but that would add on about another $150 from tax

The apple.com store charges tax in every state.

Well most of the people here are gamers and macs are still years behind for the most part.

What are you going to use the mac for should be the 1st thing you tell us.

Because he can run Mac OS X and iLife '05 on a PC, huh? Of course, you would understand since you condoned your son getting a PowerBook, no?
Another Mac hype sucker.

A computer is a TOOL to be used for a purpose, not to dick around with pretty icons and GUI in general.

My son was REQUIRED to get a GD Mac for school, or there is NO WAY we'd own the damn thing!

You mean you don't know how to use federal reserve notes?

EDIT: Or money orders?

Or traveler's checks?

Or cashier's checks?

Or personal checks?

actually, it sounds like the problem is that he doesn't have a JOB.

Apple does a great job advertising and catering to a very specific market. The problem is that I hate just about all of their commercials and products. Everything seems to have a "fruity" quality to them that I just find weird and awkward. That's probably that same thing that draws some people to them.

Just as pink T-shirts and popped collars appeals to some guys, it strongly turns others off. Apple is the pink T-shirt/popped collar crowd.

Nice patronization, except that Inspirons are generally not better products for less money. Except for its GPUs, most of us would rather have a Lenovo Thinkpad than an Inspiron anyday. It's largely a moot point; you and Ornery keep comparing Apples to oranges. In case you were ignoring it, the OP wants to run Mac OS X.

As 0roo0roo perhaps alluded to, you should go knock Anand himself for buying a PowerBook and generally liking it, even if it's not a value leader.

I've used a Mac. I just can't get into them. No offense to people, but the interface seems a bit "fruity" or "metrosexual" to me. I just don't like it. Too artsy and flamboyant.
Ahh okay, you just threw out any credibility you may have had there.

This is an intresting read. 2100$ for a laptop of such weak performance is questionable but if it's your money, your way to spend it. Don't ask us for help.

Watch out, he might have to publicly own you.

Another vocal mac user comes out of the woodwork. Watch where you chuck those rainbows- it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
