Hmmm...The place you removed your UPCs from is VERY different than the place I removed mine from. My box is (apparently) a generic box used for both 27" and 30" LCD monitors. On the two sides of the box (not the ends as apparently is the case for you) there are two bar codes pre-printed on the box. One is for the 27" monitor, one is for the 30" monitor. These are NOT stickers, and they are NOT on the ends of the box. When I bought mine, the guy scanned the barcode I'm talking about, so I assume this is the correct UPC...

Kwad

PELASE help me if you can I remember exactly what my UPS looked like it also had $1,599.00 printed on it, can you send me a scan of yours? I would REALLY appreciate it, thanks mate.

How about some more sweet shots of your TV with some material on the screen?

Here is another pic, I was comparing both of them earlier today.

here is a quick screen shot of 720P HD on my 42 plasma not tweaked at all and also low lighting

Here is a link to my Home Theatre directory. All custom work of course done by myself to save tons of money (its still work in progress) I wouldn't be on anandtech hotdeals if I had money to pay somebody else to do it :)

Bro, tell me what you think about the Ventriloquists. I've been looking at them for my living room.

Is the power plug that comes with the LCD a regular PC type AC power cord, or is it a special external power supply unit? It its just a regular PC power cable, then I'm in business. Many thanks.

I have had a number of different HT setups, for satellite solutions vents are by far the best, but you would be surprised how much of a difference your receiver makes in comparison to your speakers.

Obviously speakers play a big part but with the vent series from HSU its far more dependant on the receiver you are using. Just make sure your room isnt to big, the sound can be a bit empty for a larger room.

Depending on your budget also check out

www.htd.com

Their level 2 speakers are qutie impressive.

Well I have a pretty small living room; my viewing distance is 6 ft to put it in perspective.

And the reciever I have is a Panasonic XR25.

I think I'll give them a try; maybe pair them with a Dayton sub.

Thanks Jimmy, I was getting bummed out thinking I couldn't test mine out until Syntax opens on Monday.

Anyone else get a monitor without the cables/manual/remote, esp. those with "soft foam": packaging.

Those with Comcast HDTV, do they install the Comcast box into the DVI or component? I seem to remember some people have DVI install but I called Comcast and they don't even know what that is and another guy me they started that but they stopped it cuz it wasn't working. Anyone know about this?

Comcast reps, I have learned from spending hundreds of hours on the phone with them, don't know anything at all. I don't think they even have a training program for them... As far as I know they have 2 different kinds of digital cable boxes. For the HDTV version, they have to come out and give you a box that will have it installed in it(costs additional $5/mth). Hope this helps, my 1st post here :)

Would anyone be interested in picking one up for me? I live in Alaska (hence no MC). I'll cover the TV & shipping, plus some extra for your time.

PM me if you'd be willing to help out!

Same Here! I live in Alaska myself and would LOVE to replace my Big Screen with this. Maybe someone could pick up two of these and ship them to us.... :D I too would pay shipping and whatever else....

If nothing else, I have some friends in the lower 48. If I can get one of them to pick a couple up, would you be interested in splitting the shipping?

That's what I was thinking...if we went in on something like this...we could split the shipping costs and save some $$$. Although my question would be how the $200 rebate would work.

YOu would need to probably make seperate purchases.

He told them that he had been open for an hour and sold 5 already. He also had 10+ people calling to reserve some. Then asked, is there a limit on how many someone can buy because someone called in and wanted to order at least 5. He said at this rate we will sell out by tonight.

At 1130 the Fairfax store had about 48 left in stock and 42 more on a shipment due to arrive this week.

Oops, got my Firefox tabs mixed up, I thought I was still on the Anal Massage topic!!

Does anyone here a buzz from the unit? It doesnt matter the source, and more noticable when the vol is on on low or mute. It might be time for me to exchange before it's to late. Any others have this experience?

Other then that, great unit

Regards

Just got the Olevia here in Cleveland (Mayfield Hts location) on Friday. They had a bunch.

Re: Quality. Watching regular TV was subpar. The 4:3 dimensions are equivalent to a 25" TV and it really exposes the low quality of regular cable. I am hoping HDTV changes all that (will be calling Cox on monday). Bought me a progressive scan dvd player and was very impressed by the quality, especially on dvd's that fill the screen.

Re: rebate. The proper UPC code is located on the large side of the box where 27" and 30" Olevia TV's are identified with respective bar codes. Any other bar codes located on the box in sticker form is NOT the right one. The right one is printed on the box itself. Microcenter will print you out an extra receipt for the rebate.

Re: sound. Sounded rather thin compared to my Sony 4:3 32" tv. Looks like I will be adding an inexpensive sub like a lot of others. I don't usually have my hi-fi on while watching regular tv.

Re: connections. This may be a problem for many. It really has only one wideband component video connector. Right now I have the Xbox (480p) connected to that. Luckily, the DVD player I have can output to the DVI connector. It seems from Cox's website that their HDTV box hooks up via RGB. Not sure if that is correct but if it instead uses component video, looks like I will have to buy a switcher like Audio Authority's 1154a (ugggh, not cheap!).

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the Olevia. It'll definitely hold me over 2-3 year until I can get my hands on a larger LCD TV (after prices come down)

The buzz might be related to the level of lamp brightness you have yours set at. I've read either on this forum or another, and I can confirm myself, that turning down the backlit lamp from bright to normal or low will make the LCD (power supply) buzz more.

I dont believe that the normal HD boxes from comcast have DVI but i could be wrong. The DVR boxes do have a functional DVI connection. I tested it on my LCD and it works great. You have to pay 10 bucks a month for the DVR box but defiantly worth it if you ask me.

Right on Jammur! the buzz increases inverse to the lamp brightness.
I guess I'll leave it on bright (no buzz)

Just got back from the Santa Clara store. Manager told me they're pretty out of stock of the unit until after thanksgiving or so. They do have about 20 of the PowerSpec units in stock though. Cost is 1000 as well. Of course, just no DVI.

I think the PowerSpec is supposed to have the Faroudja video processing chipset in it, which might be better FOR SDTV than the Olevia's Pixelworks. Even though I have 2 dead pixels and no faroudja, Im happy with my Olevia.
