Ed Harris the actor

my favorite ed harris scenes are on the extras on The Rock dvd. he gets really pissed off when he forgets lines and starts banging the phone on the desk really hard. dude is an intense actor.

I like him. He usually gives a solid and believable performance. He's not aging well though. I get the impression he spent a lot of time in the sun in his younger days. But, I'd rather look at a weathered face than a pulled tight one. Appaloosa is one of my favorite movies.

I still rewatch The Abyss.

He's gotten many awards and been nominated 4 times for the Oscar. Lots of good actors have never won that despite many really good performances. If you're always good, no performance really stands out.

Don't want to take over the thread and don't think it warrants a new one but I just read this morning that Clint Eastwood is going to be doing a movie on 'Sully' Sullenberger the pilot that landed the plane in the Hudson River.

He is a good actor but his movies have been hit and miss over the years. I liked him in Apollo 13 & Enemy at the Gates

For whatever reason the roll I remember him most in was "Milk Money" which is unfortunate because he was rather bland and the movie was not that good. Maybe its because I had the hots for Melanie Griffith at the time?

Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris.... THE ROCK!

I remember hearing that line over and over again on TV and Radio, that's all I remember about that guy. Good side/character artist imho...

Yeah, the movies are up and down but I can't recall thinking he mailed it in or was a poor choice. Movies are a team effort.

I'd say he's underrated, but more just a great supporting actor. Wouldn't really think of him as the lead per se, but he's one of those surrounding cast that just rounds out a good movie and makes it really great.

he was great in Pollok

He is probably fairly rated. He is a great talent but his best work has, in my view, been in ensemble pieces like The Right Stuff and Glengarry Glen Ross.

He is a great actor, but some of his film choices are... well... questionable. His role in Snowpiercer was off. It could have been done by any actor, and I think him in that role did not fit.

I think my favorite role by him is Abyss, although Appaloosa was great as well.

Yes. I love The Abyss. It has been too long since I watched the Special Edition on DVD. I don't think I've ever seen it in HD, so I'm going to seek out a Blu-Ray version...

Also good in The Right Stuff and Apollo 13. Even did a voice in Gravity. He seems to go well with NASA roles and his voice just sounds perfect coming out over a radio / intercom.

I recently watched him in The Truman Show (again). He was OK in Snowpiercer, but I hated that movie.
