I think my favorite role by him is Abyss, although Appaloosa was great as well.
Just looked at imdb and saw that he produced, directed and was the writer of the screenplay on Appaloosa. I seem to remember that the film community had some sort of dim view of that endeavor. Maybe he's on the wrong side of something and is at the least a bit of an outcast in Hollywood.

He also produced and directed Pollock.

Yes. I love The Abyss. It has been too long since I watched the Special Edition on DVD. I don't think I've ever seen it in HD, so I'm going to seek out a Blu-Ray version...

Also good in The Right Stuff and Apollo 13. Even did a voice in Gravity. He seems to go well with NASA roles and his voice just sounds perfect coming out over a radio / intercom.

I recently watched him in The Truman Show (again). He was OK in Snowpiercer, but I hated that movie.

we have been waiting on a BR release of The Abyss for forever, it still has not come, seriously it does not exist

A pretty solid actor overall. You tend to believe what he's portraying, so he's doing his job well.

I thought this was going to be a thread of how he died which would of made me upset. Instead, you just pissed me off.

It was one of the first DVDs I bought back when it was released in the '90s.

I think the Special Edition effects were probably created at standard def or don't hold up to scrutiny at high-def or something.

I've been waiting for Team America: World Police Unrated too. :(
