dude, im not even talking about feedback, i could care less what they give eachother for feedback, im talking about the networth. here i'll give you an example. somebody is auctioning a house, you win the auction for 100K, you later on find out he can't sell the house for whatever reason, and the house is worth 300K in the market. are you not losing out on a deal here? if you still can't see the bigger picture here i suggest you take economics and learn some shit.

what it really boils down to is that the seller is not living up to a service, and he should at the very least offer a raincheck.

and dude, his fees for listing the phone and final value is NOTHING compared to how much he'd be out for selling the phone for less than 200 bucks
No, I completely understand that!

But that isn't the point? The seller is talking to you, person to person. Human to human?

He's telling you that he made a mistake, and that he is sorry that he will not be able to take your money. Oh, what a crime!

If it REALLY irks you that bad, how about a positive saying "Did not have have merchandise, compromise reached.. prompt communication."

I mean what the hell? I'd be PISSED if some dipsh!t like you left me a negative after I explained myself. And I'm an experienced eBay seller, so don't fscking call me ignorant you asshat.

Christ.
for the love of god! get a clue, the guy is talking like that "person to person" to come off as a nice guy, but i dont care if he's a dickhead or not, poitn is that he's bullshitting. have you ever negotiated with a sales person? it looks like you have not.

and are you frigging thick?? how many times do i have to tell you that what im talking about has NOTHING to do with feedback so stop using that as an argument when you talk to me.

on another note, a negative feedback is completely justified, it is to warn other users that this kind of situation is a probability, maybe not a high one cuz there's not many of em, but thats cuz you keep discouraging them to not leave negative feedback when it's justified to do so...instead you tell them to leave a positive?? where the hell is your logic??
What on Earth do you mean where is my logic??? Haven't you read any of my posts?

Your logic is based on the ASSumption that the guy is both an asshole and a liar!

I guess I'm just too nice, because my assumptions are based on the fact that he's a normal human being like me and sh!t happens. No skin off my back, so whats the problem????????

Jesus fscking christ! I can't believe this.

Like I said, I would be INFURIATED if you left me a negative feedback after I had already explained myself.

well tell it to somebody else because i'm not even putting any effort into arguing for leaving a positive or negative feedback. although i believe that i did make a good point for leaving one over the other, but i could care less which one is left.

yeah you're too nice, but we're not talking about you now are we. my assumptions of him being a liar and an ahole is based off something, and yeah he's a normal human being alright, a normal human being would attempt to bullshit out of selling a phone for that value
lol, we sure did make this thread big. ;)

That's true, that it is fishy.. It does seem that if he was truely trying to appease his customer, he would have said a little more, and his 2nd email would have been a little classier.

Shrug. I'm not willing to recieve a negative to "rat" him out I guess, because I honestly do not see the "scam" as such.

Can someone explain to me who is being scammed if someone lists something and then makes up a story as to why he can't sell it if it doesen't meet his "reserve"?

Why doesen't he just make a reserve auction? See..... It still just doesen't make any sense.. if it's true, he's both an asshole and a moron.. lol

Eli you're flip-flopping more than Kerry...now you suggest Neutral - Negative? What happened to the mutual positive man. That dope just be some "Grade A Columbian" eh?

No, I wasn't suggesting neutral/negative.. I was still suggesting positive, because I personally wouldn't want a neutral/negative in return.

I was just saying that IF you were going to leave a neutral/negative, the fact that he offered no raincheck or anything would be the only thing you could really get him on.

While that would be apart of the "good customer service" thing, sometimes you just really can't help it.. we don't know his whole situation.

I guess I'm just way too optimistic.

BTW, the stereo example was used because of the good customer service.

Sure, the end result was undesirable, and I even lost money... but there's no way in hell I would leave him negative feedback, not only because I'd get one in return.. but because he doesen't deserve it.

Now, I agree that the guys tone wasnt the best, but he very well may be some 15 year old kid. I don't know.

I just wouldn't have any problem leaving him a positive and getting on in return in this situation. I wouldn't feel cheated in any way. I'm not out any money, I have +1 positive feedback.. life is good.. lol.

i guess reserves doesnt get many bidders. it's that whole mentality that you dont have the possibility of getting it for a penny (needless to say it never happens, but still...)

well, would you want somebody else to go through the same situation as the OP? not getting a deal because the seller made a "mistake"? that's virtually what's going to happen because your positive feedback won't inform people what happened. instead you leave a positive feedback saying a "compromise" was reached. and in this case i really dont see a compromise that benefits the two of them....

edit: i meant to say positive instead of neutral/negative

Well.. that's the thing, you COULD still warn people... while most likely insuring that you get the positive in return...

Just mention the fact that they didn't have the merchandise, or something.. Shrug.

Is it REALLY that bad? I just have a really hard time seeing it as any sort of scam, lol...

So you're telling me that he may tell other people that he doesen't want their money?!

OMGNOES!

I do understand..

Basically you think he's chancing the neg in order to get more money... seems strange though, it's not rational behavior .. on any level. He could have done a reserve auction. He could have taken the hit and sold the phone. He could have emailed, explained and asked that you leave positive feedback.

To me it sounds more like he is more inexperienced than anything...

How about you wait and see if he relists the phone? lol...
