The package was delivered today. I ordered 4 digital scales, seller had better rates for up to 4, so I ordered 4. He sent just one with included invoice that clearly stated 4 and that I paid for 4.

At the contact seller page I see this multiple choice:
- - - -
1. I have a question about using my item or I want to send the seller a message

2. I didn’t receive my item

3. I need to return my item

4. I received an item that wasn't as described

5. Request to cancel this order

6. Other
- - -
If I choose 2, it goes to a page that shows that package was delivered today... duh!

If I choose 4, it wants to set up a return, also stupid.

I chose Other, but after making a comment to the seller that he only sent me 1 and not 4, I see nothing from Ebay about a redress of my grievance, something that should happen if the seller doesn't make good. How do I handle this?

eBay is a giant pile of shit at this point. Unless it's something old/no longer available I would avoid it at all costs.

It's also bad for sellers too these days - especially ever since they changed it so sellers can only leave position feedback.

Item not as described. Take some pix, attach.
Yeah, I didn't take pix. But the option ebay gives you when you do that, near as I can tell, is return. That seems not the thing to do. I want the seller to send me the other three. I may take pix anyway and do that. The pix would be the opened outer package and the one box. Seems pretty dumb. The seller can't remember having put 4 in a box, he just spaced it when sending, didn't notice the "4" and sent 1. I'll see what happens. I mean, it's just stupid to get a return shipping label and send the one back.

I have had same thing happen to me and refunded what was not sent. Other times they refunded whole amount and I just ordered from a different vendor. Every single transaction I had problem with were resolved, though I did lose a lot of time just waiting for the damn things.

I did order not as described, started a return, and messaged the seller regarding a similar situation. I had order two toner cartridges but only received one. I asked for them to just refund me half the purchase price of $30 and they processed the partial refund.

YMMV, but most sellers will try to make things right because Ebay will drop the hammer with their money back guarantee otherwise.

It's more about what you buy and who you buy it from. If there's some strange listing with a price too good to be true, and a stock photo, then it's fake.

Yeah, it's the inconvenience. I'd just finished a day of very complex computer stuff to turn out a time sensitive project and this had to happen. I figure a resolution of some kind, maybe a price adjustment, maybe seller will send the other 3 (my preference, obviously), possibly even my having to send back via a prepaid shipping label (I really don't want to have to drop a package off with the pandemic going ballistic).

You mean there are non time sensitive projects?

I meant to ask how often you cooked to need four digital scales? ;)

I've given two of these as gifts. Also, my experience (A LOT!) is that these digital kitchen scales only last so long. Prolonged usage causes buttons to eventually wear out, also junk gets inside no matter how hard to try to keep them clean. They fail.

Edit: Oh, I see what you did there... No, I'm not cooking up meth!

I ordered basically the same scale from Asia a couple years ago or so and the one I got had Chinese characters instead of English. I mean, instead of grams it had a Chinese character, and different Chinese characters for the other 4 or so LCD designations. Which is super weird. The images on the ebay listing were in English. I complained to the seller and after a bunch of back and forth the seller and I agreed that I'd settle for a $2 refund! :D That's the scale I'm using now. My Chinese hasn't improved, though. :)

I made a lot of money selling PS5's and Xbox Series X on ebay a couple weeks ago so it's fine by me, even if they take so much in fees.

磅 is the imperial pound
is the Chinese pound, which is 500 grams on the mainland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catty

Do the return, before it gets messy, and takes far longer than the holidays to get a resolution. Whenever I run into a dickbag there, I do the return. Though a couple of times I had to force them in to it by stating I had no issue with using the Ebay and paypal money back guarantees process. They stopped messaging me, but within an hour I had a refund in both instances.
