ebay dispute...item misreprented, should I have to pay for return shipping?

alkemyst

No Lifer
This company has a ton of PC100 256MB SODIMMS listed as LOW DENSITY, yet they are selling high density parts and hoping it's compatible.

They first wanted to hit me with a 15% restocking fee and expect me to ship the items back by trackable carrier in a box (they were sent to me with just a couple stamps on a envelope).

How would you handle this?

I would have not bought from ebay in the first place. /smartassreply

say what you want about ebay but I picked up VIP tickets for a concert at way less than face w/no TM fees

I got within 12" of milla jojovich(sp?)'s legs. goddamn they are white as fuck.

That probably cost around $15, right? I would hate to pay $6 to ship something for a $9 refund... I'd ask them to provide a shipping label. If they refuse to then, well, sell it on ebay!

i think it is the sellers responsibility, tho not all sellers may agree.

i recently bought a video game, guy sent the wrong one. he refunded my return shipping immediately, and item cost when he received it. obviously not happy that i didnt get what i wanted, but happy with the way it was resolved

you used paypal? well, with all the horror stories about paypal, you should be able to rape the seller.

I so want to rearrange that sentence to "I got 12" within milla jojovich's legs"

Did you write down the CD key somewhere though?

I kid, I kid.

$25.98, the first wanted to refund only $22. They shipped in an envelope with stamps but want trackable and boxed shipping in return to guarantee credit.

if you go through paypal dispute, paypal has you send it back anyway (they won't refund you on return-shipping also)

And I can leave a negative too 🙂

I am trying to get them to do the right thing so I don't have to hit them for it.

yup yup

club nokia is one sick, sick venue.

If you file an item not received dispute, Paypal will side with you since the item wasn't sent with tracking and the seller has no way to prove he shipped it. Of course, you would be morally obligated to mail the RAM back after you did this.

Show them this thread. Say that you'll mention the name of the seller if they don't resolve this issue quickly. Ask for an immediate credit of $30.00, or $25.98 plus a shipping label. Mention that the advertisement is deceptive and that refusing to pay for return shipping is unacceptable - say that you will file negative feedback plus file a complaint with Paypal and your banking institution.

If they're not receptive, call your credit card/bank first and make a claim. Do not be nerdy to the customer service rep, just state that they sent you the wrong item and are not providing an adequate resolution.

Deal with paypal as a last resort, it'll be far easier to deal with your credit card company.

Then keep the ram.

i am out $6.50 for return shipping (had to be in a box and trackable) they sent it to me in a padded envelope with a couple stamps.

I finally got my refund...

Avoid PartsPC.com if you are buying low density PC100 memory. They are selling high density no matter what you ask them about it prior to the sale. They will tell you it has 16chips and when you get it it will have only 8 but they will guarantee it's compatible with low density ram.

It will be your laptop/PC that must need to be serviced.

Picked up a proper pair from another seller and it's running find.

Left reseller ratings and feedback accordingly.
