I like this plan.

Buyer knew perfectly well that it was broken. Part of their plan.
Wonder how many others they have tried for?
Bigger wonder is how many have fallen for it?

OK, will report. Thanks guys, the cashing in money order then filing a claim thing didn't occur to me.
Thanks!

I do a good deal of buying on eBay myself and I NEVER make a commitment without checking out the sellers feedback rating.
Even one with 100% I have reservations about if they have had a low amount of sales, but if a large number of sales with at least a 99.7 rating would be pretty good.

Item 150340809886 maybe?
Title: Playstation 3 40 gb, upgraded to 100gb
Description: I purchased this unit off of ebay and it has the infamous blinking red light issue. The hard drive has been upgraded to 100gb.
Includes only:
AV Cable
HDMI Cable
Power cable
Are you handy? Fix it yourself, or send it to Sony for a repair - this could be a way to get a PS3 at a bargain price!

OP said his auction had "broken" and "as is" in the title and description.

To buy something that is stated as broken, then wanting a refund because they say that they didn't know it was broken sounds fishy, if not downright irresponsible, to me.

I see that, but...

Nice catch. In that case, I say OP better refund her the money via paypal and eat the ebay fees. Chances are they'll side with the buyer anyway. His auction is way more ambiguous than he let on in his post.
The only hint he gives that the PS3 might be broken is some blurb about a blinking red light (which I assume is like the RROD, but not being a PS3 enthusiast, I wouldn't know, maybe it's just a visual annoyance and the PS3 is still fully functional).
