But that isn't true at all. I would wager that almost no one plays WoW for it's PvP. A game just cannot focus on both and pull both off really well. One will suffer in favor of the other. And in cases where devs try to focus on both, the end result is an overall abysmal game. Again, PvP'ers are a niche market.

I just don't agree. Eve does a wonderful job of both. The problem is the people. People will find a way to abuse ANY system, it is difficult to balance games and take into account every way a person will try to utilize what is put before them.

I don't like that this is $50 to get the software, then you pay every month. Never understood that model...

because one company charges $15 a month and has millions of players (lets not even discuss about facts like most of those millions not even paying near that amount) so that seems to be the dream in the sky for every new guy.

seems like with Eve you're either a rabid fanboy or hate the game, there is no in between. lol

I hate PVP in MMOs. It's pointless as it's just the person who spent the most time/money on the game will win because they have better gear. Someone who plays casually will never be able to compete against the hardcore raider.

MMORPG.COM have their first impressions of the game here http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/331/feature/4957/Earthrise-First-Impressions.html

A few issues but they did quote these remarks ,
Overall the game has some very strong positives to offer. The open world and freedom of the game is great for players who like an older style MMO. One where they are not hindered by quests or gaining actual levels.

Earthrise is much more open and has more freedom to offer. It is refreshing to see an MMO take the same approach as games like EVE or Ultima Online, two of the most successful MMOs ever made.
