It's fucking hilarious...the east coast gets a 5.8...and the thread gets stickied. California gets a 5.8 and life goes on...with the rest of the country laughing about it and hoping California falls into the ocean...

It's fucking hilarious...the west coast gets 4 inches of rain...and it's a natural disaster with houses sliding down hills while when the east coast gets 4 inches of rain we all yawn.

Erie, PA reporting in.
I don't remember anything unusual with respect to rumblings today. I think at 1:51 though I may have been out in the shop, with various machinery making noise and vibrations in the concrete floor.

Nuke plant is shut down in Virginia.
9 other Nuke plants also effected, stating "unusual events"

I'm getting this from CNN news.
North Anna shut down properly and is fine.

"Effected" [sic] doesn't mean anything other than that their sensors picked up ground motion. They're still operating.

How are you enjoying one of the best unemployment compensations of US?

hahahaha...it's alright. I'd rather be working though. The hardest thing is trying to do stuff on your own. yeah, I can learn java, I can learn DSP stuff, but with no practical uses, jobs just see it as wasting time since it was never applied to a real project. I have to admit though, the other day, I played guitar from 9AM until my gf came home at 5:30. That was awesome.

Also, if you have a B.S degree, you have no educational unemployment benefits in MA. What a dumb rule.

A lot of people felt it in Toronto. Not me, driving at the time. My mom said she heard a loud band in the house when it happened.

I was In Richmond on the 6th floor of my building in my office today and felt it. It was a pretty good shake.

Although there have probably been 10-15 quakes in my lifetime in Virginia...I've only felt 2 of them.

1 of them was the 5.8 this afternoon, the other was the 4.2 aftershock just an hour ago

They evacuated out building for about 50 minutes....on my lunch break of course...so I lost most of that

The airplane turbulence is a good way to describe it.

It felt like 9 seconds of that in a mostly upward motion followed by a sudden 3-foot drop downward at the end. Really unsettling. Major adrenaline rush. Felt like I could pick up a car for ~30min after that.

Again! Again!

I still have a house in Arlington, but we're in Maine now. I figured with my luck, I'd be the only damage - like that Simpsons with the tornado. So far I'm told it's fine, though.

We didn't feel it in the coastal NH area where I work.

make sure gas lines aren't ruptured?

This is news because it's not commonplace on the east coast, period.

hilarious watching people start walking around and talking about not wanting to be in a building anymore. cell service pretty much went to shit about 5 minutes after for about a good hour. everybody and their damn brother must have been making calls out of the compound, interior phone comms never cut off but about 45 minutes till you could reliably get and recieve external phone calls.
