OMFG!!!!!!!!! It was epicentered in Ft. Payne just a few miles from my parents house. 4. something.
Is a prime example of getting just a little too excited about this. Also his mother calling him, freaking *him* out enough because she was freaking out. This whole thread is a bit ridiculous. Granted there aren't a lot of earthquakes there, but come on? Wasn't even a five, most people probably slept through it.
My mother lived in SeaTac for 5 years. She has felt earthquakes before, but this one felt a good bit stronger considering the epicenter was just a few miles from her house. Secondly, there has been about 8 inches of rain on top the of the mountain there in the past week or so. Thirdly, she lives on the VERY edge of the mountain. I mean if you go in the backyard you are about to fall 3000ft to Valley Head. Fourthly, it knocked a bunch of crap off of shelves and walls. I felt that I needed to go check out the house considering my mother is not in very good health and cannot be walking around looking a the foundation on the side of a mountain. There are rock and mud slides near her all the time so I thought I needed to make sure there wasn't anything that hit the house. There were some rocks in the road when I went up the mountain and a few cracks in the roads. My cats were pretty pissed off and one cat kept ripping fur off of himself(he does it when upset).
You know, Cali folks don't have much experience with tornadoes so I guess I could say some things my self. I guess if a F0-F1 hit your parent's house I would just laugh it off as a minor tornado. Hell, it doesn't even do THAT much damage. I mean cmon... we sleep through F5s here.
