I love the Earth.

She makes absolute power, wrath, and destruction look so beautiful, peaceful, and serene.

All at the same time.

And she totally accidentally (on purpose?) it all.

:)

Just wrapping this up after getting a wicked storm roll through, getting a power surge and knocked everything offline, and hearing the Tornado Sirens go off unexpectedly (yet not quite so). Turns out it was worthy of a Tornado Warning and there was a report of a funnel Northeast of campus. True or not, who knows. Touchdown? No idea.

As the storm rolled in, the wind was insane, and the looming darkness over the sun-stricken sky was quite amazing.
Darkness... darkness... lots of lightning... more darkness...
Storm marches East impressively fast, leaves an absolutely serene sunset sky in its wake.

I wish I had my SLR. Though campus has too many damn buildings that just ruin the perfect photo opportunity.

Well some of the power comes from Earth, in the form of gravity and internal heat. But a lot of it comes from the Sun as well. Although you could argue gravity comes from space (the metric, manifold, spacetime continuum, whatever you want to call it) rather than the Earth itself.

But I agree that it is beautiful.

The weather patterns and geological activity and the geography are unique to Earth. She grabs her energy from elsewhere, but all the fun happens here.

Whether it's all truly unique, who knows. But it all combines to create one hell of a show here.
Storms and weather patterns happen elsewhere too, but methane precipitation is not nearly as beautiful as water.

We were birthed in water, and sometimes die at the hands of it. Since all weather patterns are based around water (atmospheric vapor), it's quite intriguing to just sit back and look at it all.

Dihydrogen monoxide, it may kill, but one thing it doesn't do: it does not disappoint.
Speaking of beautiful weather phenomenon: snow.

"Heart" always bothered me. I mean, WTF is "heart"? Don't we all have those? It so should have been "Earth".
