Good luck with the refund path. There's definitely a reason this is happening, and if that can be deduced I'm sure the process can be made to work for you. I'm also sure that whatever you have to do to make that happen will be easier than getting a refund from manpreet.

Lmao, thanks I appreciate the words of encouragement. A few post down in this thread I posted, what I can assume to be the possible cause of this issue. I'm trying to relay this information back to EA in hopes they might look into it, I doubt it however.

Doubt they're EA employees, probably some sub sub sub contracted company. EA says heres x dollars, your target is to "serve" y amount of customers every week any way you want just reach that target, GO!

I also had an issue with BF3 with Origin.

Worst experience in customer service I ever experienced. So bad I actually created a Twitter account so I could complain at them in multiple areas.

I received the exact same type of responses and 0 help. To this day Ive barely touched BF3 and don't even have Origin currently installed.



That thread was an awful experience. EA should be ashamed to let the public see that.

I agree though it's controversial. IMO, it's not piracy if you legally paid for it and got your key. Just turn uploading off. If EA doesn't want you doing it, they should make their service better.

I've never had any issues with Origin, although I don't care for the service. I would think that if it was an EA server issue where no one could download BF3, then there would be a much bigger outcry. It must be something on your end or at worst a regional server issue.

I hate to suggest this, but if they don't give you the refund maybe reformat and don't install anything other than origin and DL the game? There is something in your system causing the issues.

I know is a crappy suggestion, but you might get the game to DL.

Have you considered that maybe the game is downloading fine, and the progress bar is just bugged? Can you try leaving it alone for a while to see if the full game actually downloads?

Steam has done this to me before. I remember downloading Duke Nukem Forever, when the progress bar suddenly went from 50% down to 0%. I was puzzled, but I let it keep downloading. Sure enough, after hitting 50% again, the game actually stopped and finished downloading.

I have had a similar experience when updating and downloading the modules for NWN2 persistent worlds. Usually what it meant was that either my internet connection dropped momentarily and that the server needed to re-verify and then re-download any remaining content. In fact, I'd bet that part of the download took place and that the new lower percentage is how much of the second (or third or fourth try) download remained. So if it went to 50% and then back down to 14%, basically that means that 50% came through, but now 14% of the remaining amount has downloaded as well.

I am sure that was a whole lot more complex than it needed to be, but hopefully people get the idea.

In total I let it download for 72 hours. And I download at 10 mega bytes per second. The entire 17GB download should take 30 min.

As for me not wanting to call them for the refund, I called, and was put on hold, then spoke to someone who transferred me multiple times over to other people none of which helped me in any shape or form.

Also, when I look at the folder in Origin games for battlefield 3, I notice that when the download goes backwards it deletes any files that were downloaded. I know this because the folder file size goes down.

I have been blatantly ignored by EA customer service staff, and kept waiting in the dark. Blizzard = Never buy any game from, always online DRM
EA = Avoid anything with DRM, that includes Origin obviously
Steam = As much as you may love it this is DRM too, avoid unless the money is properly throw away, it may never work

Everyone else it depends on the DRM situation. If its a one time activation there is a decent chance it will go ok, if its always online DRM avoid it. The problems raised with DRM are not theoretical, you just got kicked in the teeth by them.

I think this is a pretty cynical viewpoint on the subject. Granted DRM can be pretty invasive. Granted it has caused some legitimate players impact (and in a few cases, pretty severe impact). And granted it doesn't 'Stop' piracy. But I wouldn't say that all DRM everywhere prevents every single game inflicted with it from being of any value.

I was not a fan of Diablo 3 being always online. but I did buy the game. And although I thought it was less of a game than Diablo 2 and less of a game than it should have been (by far), I still got quite a few hours of enjoyment out of it. More-so than some games that didn't have DRM at all.

If you follow the credo above, you are not buying almost any games at all. Just saying.
