Well Steam is DRM but from what I remember, EA games like Spore still have their stupid install limit on top of Steam. I'm not 100% sure though.

And I hope that Stalker deal isn't for only today. I wanna get it later tonight when I get home after midnight.

Sister site Big Download contacted EA to find out if older PC games would become available, but the publisher wouldn't comment. Also, in case you're wondering, EA games on Steam apparently don't install or use third-party DRM set-ups. According to Valve "the only DRM it uses is Steam itself." - from Joystiq.

That's good news

Hmmm, Mass Effect for $30 on Steam, I must admit to be very interested by that, all I need to be sure about is if BioWare intends on releasing more than just one DLC for it, because really, Bring Down the Sky wasn't very... let's say... engaging? But I will consider it nonetheless.

Stalker is a game with a very rich mod world, right? Which are the ones to look at?

The question I have (and I posted this in the HD thread) is can all these mods be used with the Steam version?

I hate it when Steam has all these great games for really cheap. I have a whole bunch of $5 and $10 games that I bought on the special weekend deals that I still haven't played. I'm dl'n Stalker right now.

Pretty awesome. I've said it a million times, but I wish I could add all these games to my Steam account with the retail keys as I own almost all of 'em.

Well, you can still "add" any game you have installed by pointing it to like the exe ("Add non-Steam game...". That way you get the Steam Community while you are playing the game, like IMs. But you can't download the game from Steam of course.

that was comment of some Steam employee, nothing official. Wait till somebody actually tries the game.

Looks like a US only change.

NFS:UC and Mass Effect are both unavailable on my Steam (UK) and Id expect the rest to not show either.

Well yeah, I don't really need Steam shortcuts for my retail games. Just wish I could pay a one time fee (like 5-10 bucks) to transfer my retail copies to Steam digital DL versions.

What's the DRM status on Stalker?

Also, how come the EA catalogue is US only? Here I thought digital data could be transfered all over the world.

That would be cool. As much as people bash Steam, it has a lot of features I like.

Meh, can't buy it. My purchase won't confirm. This happened when I try to buy Half-Life for $0.99 a while ago as well.

Call your bank and ask them if they have any info about that payment.
