e8400 not compatible with Gigabyte Mobo?

So I recently purchased an e8400 from newegg and popped it in to my old build and after booting up i get absolutely nothing. No post, no flash, nothing. Before I bought this cpu I checked my mobo's site to see if the Wolfdale chips were compatible, according to this page all Wolfdale chips are compatible with my mobo as long as you flash the BIOS to version F13q. Which I did, and now I'm wondering if Gigabyte just lied or I screwed up somewhere.

And lastly, does anyone know newegg's return policy on situations like these? Can I just send the chip in for a refund, exchange, or no, and I'm stuck buying a new mobo?

Thanks.

According to your post, It does say "non official support" so they didn't lie. But to make sure, do you have revision 3.3 or 2.0? Rev 1.0 doesn't support this chip. Also, make sure all power connectors are plugged in correctly, as you have had to remove everything to replace the chip. Most common thing that people forget is to connect the power connector to the GPU as this would cause things to hang. :) Yup you gessed it, this happened to me on a couple of occations. But thats it, a couple ;). Anyway do the double checking thinggy and if all has been installed correctly and you can not get into bios then just maybe you have the older board. Do everything possible before you give up...usually giving up is not an option........takes the fun out of it. :p

Hmm. How do I check what revision I have? Do I check the BIOS? or do I need to go digging for the manuals and original packaging? But thanks for the help, Drsignguy, I'll also check the power plugs and various chords.

it's probably silkscreened somewhere on the mobo, usually between two of the slots.

Lol, Get a newer mobo, like a p35 based. Great for overclocking and you can find some for 100 bucks! Thats the way I would go as the 8400 chip from what I have read about is a great chip. Keep it. :)
