E8400 & IP35 Core Voltage Issues

Hey guys,

I'm trying to overclock my new computer and have managed up to 370MHz at 1:1 which is stable. I want to push it further but when I increase the VCore in the BIOS the change isn't being reported on CPUZ - it still shows as 1.225v. I've tried increasing it all the way to 1.5v but I'm worried about going any further.

Here's the specs...

C2D E8400
Abit IP35
Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX DDR2 4GB (4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v)

I've heard reports that the IP35 series has a big Vdrop but for it to not register any change AT ALL is a bit weird isn't it? Is there a setting somewhere that I've missed?

No such luck :( I found one in CPU Features called Thermal Control and disabled that but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. Can't really see anything else in the BIOS that resembles these.

I have the exact same thing with 1.325v. CPU-Z won't show anything else.... EVEREST Ultimate does though... Really weird, I didn't have any problems before, I think it might have to do with the latest bios. Are you running latest?

It's in the same screen. At least in bios v15 it is.

The problem is probably with CPU-Z. Are you using the latest version? If you don't mind the hideous UI, Abit's abitEQ should show the correct voltage.

C1E and EIST are both disabled. I'm also using the latest BIOS. Actually RMA'ed a board because it was turning itself on and off before I realised that the board wasn't officially compatible with the 45nm processors . Had to nick an E4300 from work so I could flash the BIOS.

I'll try Everest/abitEQ when I get home tonight to see if it's a problem with CPU-Z and let you know how I get on.

Ok finally got round to trying Everest and Abit uGuru (couldn't find abitEQ). Everest looks like it's displaying the correct voltage (it's fluxuating between 1.112 and 1.120 when idle and sticks to 1.176 at load rather than just saying 1.225 all the time), but when I change the setting in the BIOS it still doesn't register. uGuru doesn't even work - all the settings register as 0. Any other ideas?
