Basic question that might be stupid: can you run SLI dual video cards with an E8400? Or does that require a quad core processor?

SLI has nothing to do with how many cores you have.

I had a couple in my cart.. but I checked the price on Ebay, as low as $172; by the time I paid shipping and sales tax (I'm in FL) I could not justify all the hassle for $12....

Now comes the hard part. Trying to O/C my Gigabyte MB to 1333 just to run the cpu. If not, I'll be selling it.

I also have an HP m8100y with a quad core, but I don't know it can take this cpu. Otherwise I would replace it.

most of the ebay ones are selling for liek 180-190 though. i am in CA and if yo ubought more than 1 it was free shipping and there was no tax.

so it was worthwhile for me . i figure i can now choose between one of these and the e7200 that i bought last week that arrives on monday and sell whatever is left.

with the latest bios the 680i boards will take an 8000 or 7000 series 45nm dual core, ANY (quad or dual core) 6000 series 65nm chips.

Anyone know if you can use the stock cooler from a E6750 on the E8400. The E6750 cooler I have looks much beefier than the one that is included with the E8400..LMK

i would figure so. all the cooler are slightly different buy they are all lga775.


i know the e4400 and e4500 m0 cores come with a non coppre cooler.

my e7200 just arrived and it has the same size cooler as a celeron 420 which is non copper and only half height (the only difference is that the celeron one was not PWMM and the e7200 seems to be).

I would greatly appreciate it when peeps start getting their CPU's, if they could report back if the box has the "45nm" 1" square green and yellow sticker on the lower right corner of box.
Even nicer would be to also note the batch number first 4 letters - the week of manuf
Q808 means Malaysia 2008 8th week (end of Feb.)

If you go over to slickdeal forum, you will see a guy's order was SHIPPED, and compusa called for a package INTERCEPT!! to recall the CPU that went out
This is 10X worse than the way ewiz handled its price error

mine still hasnt, but the UPS thing says it just hit the depot (And it just updated like 2 hours ago to that)
