Well the bigger announcement was that steam itself in a form will be on the PS3, meaning they can push out patches and free updates without having to wait forever to pass Sony's DLC testing bullshit. For PC gamers it was still a kick to the nuts, but that's how it's been for a while now.

Yea, I was a bit annoyed by the "surprise."

Because lets face it, the majority of the people following the portal 2 press announcements probably play Portal on the computer. Valve deliberately never planned having a portal 2 conference and fake canceled it. A lot of buzz appeared about what this surprise could be... and they dropped the ball that the surprise was PS3 release.

I mean, good for sony, and good for the people who don't have a computer to play portal on (and only have a ps3), but seriously? You could've announced this days before, and yes it would've been big news, but not many would've cared.

Instead, Valve teases us with the possibilities of a new Half-Life and just disappoints again.

Well said.

As usual, this announcement was more for investors than it was for gamers.

I don't understand why people are upset Valve is trying to reach the largest audience possible. I guess PC gamers just like to bitch.

I thought their teaser poster last week had a 4/16 date on it. Wouldn't that mean another announcement could be coming today?

Er, 6/16.

There is no 16th month. /smartarse

Despite my 'grrr' that Valve does not please me as a PC game player with game information for the PC, it does not surprise me that they are pushing an extremely popular series onto a popular gaming platform.

I say it is still good news for Valve but a swift kick in the balls for those PC gamers (like myself) that wrongly assumed it would be a PC-related announcement.

Maybe Portal 2 is eps 3 :hmm:
Wasn't portal just a test for the portal guns before they were released in Eps 3?

No, it was it's own game that valve hired a group, which made a similiar game, to make. They losely tied it to ep2, and implied that atleast the company involved in the portal gun would be involved in ep3 although there's no telling if the portal gun will actually make an appearance.

We're upset because they pulled the Portal 2 announcement saying that they had a "big surprise." What's this big surprise? Portal 2 is still coming, and now it's on the PS3 too. Big fucking whoop. They had us all excited that they were going to put out a real game that is more than a glorified puzzle, but nope, we're stuck with Portal 2. Sure, it'll be fun... for like 3 or 4 hours tops.

It made an appearance in my HL:Ep2 game due to some hacks. Kind of game breaking.

Exactly. Valve has teased us about the existence of Ep3 after the cliffhanger at the end of Ep2 for almost 3 years now. The whole point of episodic gaming was to get it out faster.

Now, I appreciate the fact that they're doing more with Ep3 (or HL3), and that's fine, but would it kill valve to give us a cookie every once in a while? I promise everyone would shut up about HL for a while as long if they gave us a taste. I mean, we all know Valve is capable of releasing games left and right (Portal 2, L4D series), but we just want to see something. SOMETHING.

But Valve is going for that big reveal. That's fine too. But, it damned well be ready for release the day after they announce it (I can wish... :D).

And more whines... typical. :awe:

You'll get Episode 3 when Valve makes it. Otherwise I don't see the reason for all the crying.

Boo fucking hoo.

Yeah, so they "teased" you about Episode 3 and whatnot. So why did they not announce it? Because Sony ponied up some cash and said "Make some games for us".

Portal 3 will come out and the next bitch/whine will be "I waited all this time for this?!"

I'll wait... :)
