e2200 Overclocking

I'm seeing people with e2200's, e2160's etc hitting 3.2-3.3 on stock volts. I can 'only' hit 3.0ghz at 1.36 volts. After that it takes A LOT of voltage to even post after that. The processor was manufactured on 2/4/08 so I am thinking I just got a bad batch? Well on the flip side it runs really cool compared to my e6400!

What cooling are you using with your e2200? does it help if you increase the NB volts?

Really have not tried. Forgot to mention that it is on an abit ip35-e motherboard so I don't think I would need to up nb volts. The processor scales very well until 2.95 and from then up it requires a lot of volts. I am thinking it's the processor

I've never seen any E2xxx that can hit over 3Ghz on stock volts.

Half of the people that claim to have reached high Mhz on stock volts, actually have their voltage on "AUTO", which overvolts when the FSB is raised. So they're NOT at "stock" (default VID). They just think that they are.

what's the max clock speed you can reach (on average) without changing the voltage?

Ya, I'm two clicks up on Voltage to get 3ghz on my e2160. Getting 3ghz is pretty much a no brainer, but 3.2+ requires luck (aka good chip) and skill.

I have a e2200 and I only hit 3ghz with reasonable voltage. After that I'd need quite a bit jump in voltage and i cannot even hit 3.1 prime stable.

Don't believe all the hype on the Internet on OC.

I'd say 2.8-3.0Ghz. From there, it's an uphill climb with voltage.

Just looking around, all the reviews and such point to huge overclocks. Judging by what you guys have said it seems as if 1) they are lying or 2) they got lucky chips. Oh well I will be happy with my e2200 at 3.0! Thanks for all the input

For me it was 266 * 11 (2926) at less than default voltage. After that you gotta pump some juice into it

3) People pay more attention to huge overclocks than lesser overclocks.

Probably a combination of #2 and #3.

I've had three E2140 chips. The one I have now can barely do 2.9-3.0GHz with some voltage, but one I had before was an easy 3.2GHz (didn't even test higher). Both tested on an IP35-E.

One claim, or five claims, or fifty claims of "successful" (that's also debatable) overclocks to X.XXGHz doesn't mean the next chip is "guaranteed" to hit that speed, even on the same supporting hardware.
