This e-mail was forwarded to everyone in my political science class.

The Rubrics I sent yesterday are like some points I would suggest for
your essay on the essay exam. These are like talking points. However,
I would expect to have some discussion and examples for them when you
write them. They are guide. Not a key. I am looking to see if you
make the connection of points and the tying of them together. This
tying together shows a thought process. I am looking for that in the
exam. There is no right or wrong...but how do you tie things together.

Is proficiency in English not required to teach?

I know my school isn't like this, but if your school uses graduate students to teach...

I've heard at UW you get grad students who barely understand english a lot of the time.

I usually treat e-mail as a quick note.

In business and academia, email is formal.

well I guess it's less common for classes where you have to write essays, but for engineering it's fairly normal

That's a disgusting display of incompetency. Is this person tenured? My x-wife, as a graduate student, wouldn't think of sending an email like that.

sadly, that's VERY common in engineering/science disciplines, even in the top universities in the world... less so in liberal arts and humanities, but i guess it still happens. kind of stupid that a person who can barely put together a coherent email is grading your academic essays.

I figure that I write quite a few posts a day on ATOT without proof-reading and never even come close to writing that poorly.

Perhaps, but the gist of what you often write -- unthinking and unsupported political and social generalizations fabricated out of nothing more than your own immature prejudices -- reveals a seriously deficent level of intellect and personal maturity on your part.
