Wow i just E-filed my tax return for 2004. It only took me 30 mins to complete.

All you need is:

W-2
SS#
last yr's AGI (adjusted Gross Income)

they charged for for NYS filing, but the federal was free.

w00t $1000 back!! in about a month

Yeah, took me an hour to do it last week because I had a few more forms than you. I've been using it for years now and I absolutely love it. I can't imagine doing it the old way anymore which is so inefficient.

I'm probably going to buy TurboTax today and file. Those things can handle multiple W2s, right? 🙂

What was the point of that useless post? Perhaps you're trying to get "Thread Ownage of February" . . (See Sig for those who don't get it)

Pfffft. I used telefile, cost me nothing, took me 5 minutes, and I filed my taxes on the 13th, a day before most people could. I got my refund deposited like a week and half ago. 😛

been using online turbo tax for 4 years now...

just filed yesterday...only paid $9.95 federal filing fee (no state tax in TX)...

if all goes well, should have it direct deposited in less than 3 weeks...

Why do you guys have such big refunds?

Because most of them love to give their extra money to Uncle during the year.

In my case, I consolidated a student loan in 2004!

And how much a difference did that make?

Yeah, I'll be sitting down to do taxes soon.

It'll probably take me 8-10 hours over a couple of weekends with TurboTax.

No telling what I'll get back or have to pay. Not a lot of business expenses that weren't reimbursed (but the wife must have 100 pages of business expenses🙁 ) , but we had a lot of donations of goods this year (took pictures of everything before I donated).

Every year I say I'm going to get an accountant.

I'm getting about $5500 back this year.
I only paid $1500. The rest is from the additional child tax credit.

EDIT: Took about 30 minutes with TaxCut.
Yes, I could have claimed more exemptions so they wouldn't take as much, but who cares. The amount of interest I could have earned on that money is negligible.

But you could have had that in an ING account with 2.35%! That would have made you over $5! haha, jk... but you know someone is gonna say that.
