I only paid $1500. The rest is from the additional child tax credit.

EDIT: Took about 30 minutes with TaxCut.
Yes, I could have claimed more exemptions so they wouldn't take as much, but who cares. The amount of interest I could have earned on that money is negligible.

But you could have had that in an ING account with 2.35%! That would have made you over $5! haha, jk... but you know someone is gonna say that.

More like $165 in GMAC Demand Notes (3%).

I think you are confused. I only had $1500 withheld from my paycheck for the entire year. $1500 / 12 = $125 per month.

I'd like to see the math that allows me to earn $165 by investing $125 per month in an account with a 3% return rate.

According to my calculations, it would have earned me about $20. Woohoo.

Used TurboTax online here, too, worked great. Didn't want to pay twenty bucks to do state, though. And I WOULD do state online through revenue.state.pa.us, but their dumb fax number appears non-existent to fax them my signature.

waiting on 1 W-2 from when my wife worked part time in jan. 04

getting b/t $3-4k back this year. I really could have used that money during the year, but it was hectic w/ our wedding, and we forgot to file updated W-4's. Half of it is coming back from her education credits

To everyone who e-filed, do you think it's plenty safe that we chose this route?

I feel it's safe enough to have done it since 2000. I buy stuff off the 'net all the time, check my bank balance, pay bills online so why wouldn't I do my taxes?

Why do you guys have such big refunds?

Because most of them love to give their extra money to Uncle during the year.

In my case, I consolidated a student loan in 2004!

I consolidated a student loan too. Do you get more back if you did?

Just wondering since this involves your SSN and all the other things don't.

Information is encrypted between your system and the vendors system. Then it is encrypted to the IRS.

Your safeguards are probably better than bying on-line.
