I found it more convenient than a massive quote but anyway it does help to quote even if you just quote and delete all of their text and just say (snip)..
Anyway even if we use the 30% vs 80%.
Let's spell it out and I'll give my scenario.
I'll be gaming at 4k (mgpu needed).
If I use afr, I may go from 50 fps to average to 90 fps. Not bad!
But my display only goes to 60hz at 4k. So 90fps doesn't help me as much. With afr it's known minimums can be bad(correct me if I'm wrong guys!).
So my minimums can drop out of freesync range.
With sfr, I may go from 50 fps average to 65 fps average. However, now, I'm above 60 fps, and my minimums can stay within freesync range, and I have a better respite time and smoothness..
So afr gives me a high framerate(that I can't use in an optimal mgpu setup gaming at 4k), higher latency, worse experience etc.
Sfr, gives me an experience that gets me close to a 60 fps lock whole still keeping me withing freesync range for low latency smooth gaming.
Without mgpu, I'm out of freesync range and having a bad experience.
So yes, mgpu is worth it in this scenario where I "only" gain 30%. Because I'm not worried about raw fps, I just want to game without stutters, screen tearing, and with decent input lag.
Have you tried Civ:BE crossfired under Mantle? It's very nice especially since max fps is useless in that game.
